After trying to google specific directions to this location we drove about a hour and 15 minutes out our way to find it. Hope this will help and prevent you from the same mistakes. First there is 2 places where HWY 41 and HWY 46 meet up. Here's the best way to find it. If you are coming from the... More

This memorial is in the parking lot of a little restaurant along Hwy 46. A very modern memorial to a very classic guy.

We were riding our motorcycles on back roads and came to this junction, good place to get off and stretch Here is a small monument commemorating the fatal crash of James Dean in his Porsche. Tragic end to an up and coming young actor. A place to reflect

It's a site for sure. I got chills when we stopped. A huge piece of history here. Worth the detour to see.

We did a last-minute change to our road trip itinerary. Instead of heading back towards LA (which is the direction we came from) we decided to head to Bakersfield cross country (Ventura, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Lost Hills, etc) and we were in the middle of nowhere when my hubby said, "I think James Dean... This is near the crash site of James Byron Dean the actor that stared in 3 movies yet became an icon of the 50's. This site has a couple of brass plaques that give some explanation of who he was and commemorates a tree that is in his honor. The last weekend of September, 3 car clubs gather to celebrate... More

Although barely marked along State Route 41, and 30 miles E of Paso Robles, there is a sad historic exhibit next to a small cafe on the NW side of the highway that invites the curious to stop by and view some mementos. James Dean, an original and iconic Hollywood rebel from the 1950s died tragically here driving his own... More

We were told we would travel past this Junction on the way back to Vegas from Pacific Coast. For some morbid reason I just wanted to see what view Mr Dean must have enjoyed on that famous traffic disaster. I can fully understand how his Porsche may have been considered to have been travelling faster than the 55 speed limit... More

As an old movie buff this was a must see. I found it a bit sad that the memorial is in the parking lot of a restaurant and was funded by a private citizen of another country. The actual site of the crash, or as close to it as you can get now, is marked with a few pictures on... More
