This place is about 30 min from the main road which is a dirt road and pretty well kept; I drove it in the dry season and had no problems. Along the way there are a few restaurants, houses, and pousadas; it is a very beautiful scenic route. We felt safe, so no need worry about anything.

When you arrive you will be greeted by guard and will have to pay a small fee, so bring cash. The reception center has a clean bathroom and everything is very organized and nice. The park is very beautiful and the waterfalls are right up in front, no need to hike anywhere if you don't feel like it; we had our new born and hiked both with him in a carrier. There are two main trails that are fairly short - 2km max - and lead you along the river to other mini waterfalls.

This place as an excellent place to spend the day and have a picnic.

You have to face 20 km of dirt road and if it's not raining you will have no problem... The place is very safe and you have 3 options for trekking. Today we had Rio Paraibuna that it's self guided and it has 1,7 km and places to take a bath on the waterfall. It was great!!!

This place is exactly what I would call paradise unexplored. Being a little nook tourist this place still keeps intact its natural beauty. The access path is a bit difficult for a dirt road. At the entrance you are greeted by a visitor center and along the trails you can enjoy species of rainforest and waterfalls unmissable.

The national park was previously in a state of degradation, but restoration efforts have transformed it into a beautiful destination. It now features extensive trails for exercising and sports activities. Additionally, the park offers improved views of waterfalls and a spot for swimming. If you are nearby, be sure to visit.

And check the trails and waterfalls. Be aware of mosquitoes who bite with confidence. Water is clean, the views are quite nice. Very enjoyable afternoon.

The park is incredible! Very worth the visit.

- Place for those who like nature, trails and waterfalls.

- We did the 1.7km trail with a 5 year old child, lasting 1h10 and super peaceful.

- Access to the quiet park, any car can access it. It is 19km from the asphalt, we stayed 2km from the park, which we loved.

- Entry over 12 years old and under 60 years old charged R$19 per person and half entry R$9.50 (cards accepted but I recommend cash, the machine never has a signal)

- It has a playground, bathrooms, visitor's house, information and parking.

- You can access waterfalls without taking the trails

- Beautiful place

Park with really cool trails! We walked the path along the Paraibuna River, with incredible views of the waterfall. We did the two smaller trails in 3 hours, with stops for photos. It was drizzling, but it didn't hinder the activity as the trail was almost entirely between the trees. Super cool center, with clean bathrooms, empathetic and proactive staff and an informative exhibition on araucaria trees with really cool related arts. On the way back to Cunha, along the route, there are restaurant options. We intend to return for sure! We recommend wearing sneakers suitable for the trail.

We arrived at Serra do Mar State Park to have a picnic with nature. This experience was fantastic!
After lunch and good wine, we went for two walks, the first following the 1.7km Paraibuna River and the second walk along the 2.2km jaguar trail.

The place does not have ANY infrastructure for food, just a support point with bathrooms. Snakes may appear on the trails, as signs indicate their presence on the route.
In the support center there are dead samples inside glasses.

The Park is EXTREMELY far from the city center, the road is terribly BAD, practically 60 minutes there and 60 minutes back, driving on a dirt road, with MANY holes and rocks.
On this arduous journey, we found a sign that defines this route very well: END OF THE PICADA.
WAZE doesn't work as there is no Wi-Fi access and NO phones on the road! PRAY that you don't have any problems with your car, as you will be without support for the rescue. The journey to the Park is very tiring. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND! 👎 ❌️
