We did the Gubara hike a few weeks ago when we were in Kakadu National Park, when we were there honestly we may have seen 4 people doing the hike the whole time we were there, about 2.5hours, it’s basically unknown as everyone is heading for Noulangie and those places. We had no problem with that though as we were... More

A pleasant 3 km walk in along a sandy track. The escarpment above is very beautiful. When you reach the rainforest continue on further over the rocky path till you reach a small Rockpool in amongst tall rainforest trees. Lots of large boulders. Attractive but not stunning. Maybe we should have explored further. It was pretty hot and dry. Maybe... More

This is a great walk through lovely woodlands next to very interesting escarpment walls! Shame crocodiles had already entered the pools but lovely nonetheless- don't believe the four hours they say it takes for the walk - max two hours there and back with a stop!

I have been here a few times. There is an 8km road which cuts off the road to Nourlangie. In most instances this road is not bad. You will pass the old runway used in the opening scene used in Crocodile Dundee 2. The walk from the car park is a flat easy walk, although at times you have to... More

Gubara is located along the way towards Nourlangie rock. Look for the turnoff towards the left. About a 6km walk from the car park takes you through woodlands, sandstone cliffs and monsoon forests. You will arrive at some small cascading waterfalls and rock pools, but obviously, this changes depending on the season you are travelling within. Not so well known... More

Take plenty of water and walk it late afternoon or early in the morning , not after lunch (midday sun) as we did and got fried! Very hot and exposed first half as fire has burnt all shade of trees on the track. Must have been close top high 40's. Great swim at the end, have never appreciated cool water so... More

This area is a picteresque walk through open woodland and rocky escarpment that takes a meandering 3kms to get to a pristine creek where shade is no problem and swimming a divine reward for the trek in. I highly recommend visiting this site at any time of the day given the reward of a safe and refreshing swim at the... More

Base at jabiru or Cooinda. Personally Cooinda..........Yellow Waters is stunning to live next too. Swimming and walking.....great holiday combination. Very very few tourists in this area. Adults great......my 9 and 11 year old loved the swimming but not the walking! Wanted to take soccer ball to play with. Some stunning photography available to view. I never realized what great value... More

Gubara has great swimming, especially after the 3 kilometre walk in. The walk out was easier than expected because we soaked our clothing and hats in water before starting out. We stayed relatively cool on the walk because of that. The walk was worth it, a great place for a swim and picnic. We saw a big Water Monitor just... More
