Ate here last night after a lengthy walk. Service was great and very friendly. Food was excellent - modestly priced and a cut above standard pub grub. Good buzz and atmosphere and cracking beer.

Staying in the town for 2 nights we decided on the 3 find for our pre bike ride night out. The food was lovely and wide selection of beers brewed by themselves really added to the evening. Keep walking through the first very small bar...More

Nice ambience and friendly staff but our experience of the food was mixed. One of us had sea bass. We expected that the fish would be modest in size but the accompanying vegetables were woefully inadequate. Three very small pieces of potato, one courgette ribbon,...More

What's not to like! Good food, good beer, log burner, friendly staff and a great atmosphere in a wonderful old pub with brewery attached! Always wise to book if wanting food. A great choice on the menu. Had the tasty duck and just had enough...More

It's very noisy here at weekends. You may call that atmosphere, but we found the fact that drinkers congregate round the bar in one of the main eating areas interfered with our arrival and ability to attract staff of a menu and service, as well...More

We had a tasty light lunch which prompted us to return for dinner. Fish cakes and venison were good, lasagne had to be returned to be reheated but was delish too. The staff are seriously good, and dogs are welcome and made a fuss off....More

Great food beer and service. It's a massive menu, so probably part pre- prepared, but you wouldn't readily notice it ! Nice portion sizes. Reasonable prices Well done.

Its a must to visit the beer is great and brewed next door in the brewery. It is the oldest licenced brewary in the country and the beer is great. strong so don't use the car after.
