Dear Sir, Please could you guide me to any organisation/person that specifically helps with Deer rehabilitation. I would be keen to make a small contribution to help with the good work being done. I dont seem to locate the email address. Thanks & Regards Devahi

Nothing great but worth a visit if you have nothing else to do. We did see a few deer and a couple of monkeys but yes a lot of greenery!!

The sanctuary is well maintained and improved still I visited it first time 30 years ago... my last visit was in this year, and it is a nice place now. The numbers of deer has increased too.. they are very well cared.

A captive jungle area where deer are kept. It is seer luck that they are visible as you are to be on the barricaded road or on the watch tower ,(good for love-couple),difficult for seniors to climb up. Very isolated place, though there is a hotel/resort. Can give a miss .

Shantiniketan has so few interesting places other than the Uttarayan complex and Visva Bharati that this place automatically features in a Things To Do list. It is a pleasant experience like a park. But there is actually very little to see by way of wildlife. One part is the deer park. It is in reasonable level of maintenance and you get to spot some deer. There are a couple of watch towers overlooking a huge lake. This water body looks attractive, but it is mostly under a green sludge. The watch towers are fun to climb for the teenagers. Generally, the tracks inside the park are thickly wired off to prevent crowds from entering and harming the wildlife. The sanctuary can be accessed from another side of the waterbody. This portion has a small museum and a few scattered buildings accommodating tourists. Once again, the wildlife is disappointing as I spotted just one bird. The lake is more sludgy from this side. Overall, an ordinary experience. But can be explored if time hangs heavy in your hands. As we did.
