Very beautiful lake and we went on a super boat ride. There are crocodiles in the lake and we saw some of them resting in the small areas sun bathing.
Beautiful park on the other side next to the lake with swings. People interested in cycling can hire bikes.
Lovely resort with good amenities. The food in the resorts I heard was not good. We stayed closer to the Rammappa temple but the place we stayed did not serve good food either. Only the morning breakfast was okay.
Overall good place to visit.

Located on the opposite side of Lakhnavaram Cheruvu, this place is a tourist spot - run by the state government. They have boating as well. Its not a wildlife sanctuary, nor adventure spot.
Just for a day-outing. They have eco-resorts too.

Pakhal Lake is about 4 KMs from Narsampet in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh. The trip was a outcome of a few of my colleagues wanting to get to spend some time in a Jungle and me wanting to try my new DSLR in bird photography.

We started to Pakhal lake from Hyderabad at about 4.30 PM in the evening on saturday. The drive to Warnagal was a pleasant one. By the time we reached Narsampet, it was 8.00PM. We carried food enough for camping in the jungle. We were received by a few local friends at Narsampet and we treaded into the forest area.

We got a place on the adjacent to the lake, a nala kind of thing and lit a bonfire. We had a good time and decided to hit the sack at about midnight. Though there were a mosquitoes, the effect of the bonfire kept them at bay.

Next day was quite a surprise for all of us. The clear lake and the avian friends were a big attraction for all of us. I made the best use of my DSLR. The adventure was quite a thrilling experience for all of us. Locals were stunned that we were not approached by Bears or Jungle Boars at night.

The place has a guest house, which can be booked for a family. There was boating ride into the lake.

You need to carry a night camp, good shoes , mosquito repellent. Night lights and torches. Food to keep you going.

The lake is 50-60 km from Warangal city but the approach is not in great shape for last 10-15 km.
The setting is beautiful with nothing else in sight for a long distance. We took an off road detour and drove right up to the lake. It was great fun. Nothing much around. Boating option is present but the driver wasn't around. There is a small park with a swing and lots of monkeys. A few snack places are also nearby.

Parkal lake is just adjacent to the "Haritha" restaurant near "Ramappa" Temple.
Enjoy the beauty of the lake while dining at the restaurant.
Boating facility is available.

If you wish to take a long drive this should be in your list. About 200Kms from Hydbad...with 70% good roads and the last 30% in not so good condition but manageable. SUV advisable bcoz of the roads to go around the lake are terrain like. I like the peace and calmness here. A nature's beauty not breath-taking thou.
Good if you want a picnic spot and capture lake-view shots with not much crowd here. Place looks lonely/deserted. Boating is provided by TS govt, but there is only a single boat I could see there(again not in good condition) with no one around even on a Sunday. Some police guys patrolling bcoz of the wildlife sanctuary nearby. Beware of monkeys. Try not to ask about the place or get help from those creepy old looking guys there, they will demand money later.
Good places to eat at Warangal. Can visit 1000 pillars temple and Bhadrakali temple on the way. Go in group.

In our quest to find some good place closer to Hyderabad we took a decision to drive out to Pakal lake in Warangal district in the hope of finding some birds at least. What a disappointment as the Telengana tourism minister and his babus don't seem to have any idea how to develop a readily available locale into a destination for the fun loving tourists of Hyderabad. With such a beautiful lake and adjacent pakal forests they can easily create a resort with nice and comfortable cottages on the banks with some safari thrown in to attract the tourism starved hyderabadis and generate some revenue for the state.

The great Kakatiya, Telugu king Ganapati Deva has constructed Pakhal lake in the deepest forest area for the future uses of farmland for agriculture purpose. Now approximately 3Lakh Acres of the area is surviving under it. Kakatiya rulers have lot of future plannings to make people's lives better. They used so many kinds of engineering technologies in the constructions..they built Ramappa temple on a lake, as well as thousand pillars temples at Hanamkonda is constructed on sand land and still surviving for past thousand years and they will be standing so strongly other 2 to 3 thousand years so proudly after our generation.
