Iranikulam Sree Mahadeva Temple is located at Iranikulam, Mala in Thrissur district. The temple has two main deities, Thekkadathappan and Vadakkedathappan. Both deities are Lord Shiva. In the rehabilitation of the temple, the new idol was replaced by a broken statue. The South shrine is generally considered to be the two-level Sanctum sanctorum shrine of Lord Shiva. The presiding deities of north shrine are Lord Shiva, Parvati and Subramanya dwell at the same altar in the sanctum sanctorum facing east . It is believed that this temple is one of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala and is installed by sage Parasurama dedicated to Lord Shiva . The temple is located center of ancient Iranikulam grama (village). Maha Shivarathri festival of the temple celebrates in the malayalam month of Kumbha (February - March).

Biggest double storied circular sanctum in Kerala, rarest concept of Siva- Sakthi Samyogam in Indian worship culture
Nov 2016 • Family
This is a best place for pilgrimage traveler. Iranikulam is one of the 64 GRAMAMS(Villages) into which Kerala is traditionally believed to have been originally divided. One of the 108 Shivalayams Installed by Lord Parasurama. Very scenic place having signature of the ancient Kerala Architecture.

The main festival 'Thiruvathira Mahotsavam'time here is in between December & January every year. This is the 8 days annual festival of the temple complex ending on ‘Thiruvathira’ morning of Malayalam month ‘Dhanu’, considered as the birth day of ‘Lord Siva’. This is a rare twin festival believed to be celebrated by ‘Sree Parvathy’ along with all her devotees, relatives and friends to enhance the well being of all women folk and the prosperity of their consorts. It is celebrated systematically with every day ‘Athira neerattu’ (rejuvenating morning bath) and ‘Thiruvathirakkali’ in the soothing moonlight. ‘Karthika deepakazhcha’ is the most beautiful light assembly of oil lamps, with the participation of all the devotees present. The procession of ten selected ornamented elephants with the accompaniment of the best ‘Panchavadyam’ and ‘Chendamelam’ is an added attraction. A MUST WATCH for any kerala Traveler during these times.
