This is our second time to visit Aguinid falls. After swimming with the whale sharks, we went to the falls. First we had lunch at the entrance site where they cooked our meal. It was delicious! P1,200 for 4 main dishes with rice and coconut water. There were leftovers in our group of 5.
Compared to last year(Jan. 2019), the entrance fee jumped from P60 to 300. There was no required guide last year and no shoes and helmet. Appreciated the shoes as the rocks can be slippery and the ground uneven.
This time, there are 8 levels compared to 5 last year. Our guide Andrew is very friendly and helpful. The place itself is still beautiful. But there is less water and some areas are without water. Last year, the water current and the falls were spectacular! Was told there was drought all year?
Enjoyed the rock climbing part with and w/o rope. I thought it was more fun last year. Maybe it was because it was our first time?

Had an amazing time climbing these waterfalls with the guides. The guides were conscientious and made sure we were safe and having fun. The waterfalls were beautiful and the pools were so refreshing! We surprised ourselves reaching the 8th level with their help as we are both in our late 50’s and only moderately active (but we love adventures!!). Highly recommend this activity

We trekked up 8 levels of waterfalls with help from the guides, who also took so many photos for us with our phone. The water was so clear and we saw a monitor lizard! We swam and jumped and had a great time! The best thing was the lack of other tourists - we only saw two other travelers on our trek.

Aguinid Waterfalls is one of the emerging destination in the South-Cebu today in the Province of Cebu, Philippines. It is dubbed as the hidden secret of Samboan where serenity with nature is at its pride. It is actually a family of waterfalls composing at least five (5) waterfalls in one Tangbo River. My advice for those who will visit the place is to bring extra suits since going there means you'll get wet as you cant go upper to the next waterfalls without getting to climb the limestone walls of each level. Surprisingly, the climb is not that hard and not really slippery. Perfect for active adventurist and nature lovers. Plus it is really very accessible since it is just a five (5) minute walk from the national highway in Barangay Tangbo of Samboan, Cebu at about two-and-a-half (2.5) hours drive from the City of Cebu or about an hour from Dumaguete City via sea craft from Negros Oriental. Ask if there be other interest to visit? Yes, since Samboan can offer both natural wonders and heritage culture. They have another emerging popular waterfalls as the Hidden Waterfalls (Bonbon), Dao Waterfalls (Suba), Balay'g Sawa Waterfalls (Poblacion) and Tabon Waterfalls (also in Tangbo). Samboan indeed is a Waterfalls Capital in Cebu if you can call it. For heritage lovers, we still have the most preserved and highest Spanish Coral Stone Watch Tower, 100 plus steps of the St. Jacob's Ladder and the centuries old St. Micheal ArchangelChurch which were all build by the Spanish Era of the Philippines. Of course for other informations, you can contact the Office of the Mayor through telephone numbers 5162513. They have no website maybe yet but you can browse all over the internet for some other informations.

After whalesharkwatching at oslob we hired a motorbike from Aaron beach resort road around the scenic road to aguinid falls had a swim had a picnic had another swim then back to oslob excellent day!

One of the hidden gems of South Cebu! Reading blogs and reviews would not be enough for you to appreciate this wonder. You have to experience it firsthand and see for yourself the magnificence innate in it. I hate to sound overly dramatic, but I honestly can say that this is one of the reasons why I fell in love with Cebu. For adventure seekers and nature lovers, this one will not disappoint.
Aguinid Falls is a multi-level waterfalls that runs along Tangbo River in Samboan, Cebu. It is composed of 6 tiers (including level 0), each featuring a distinct limestone formation and unique water cascades. And the best and only possible way to get to the topmost level is to daringly climb these formations and get wet! Yep, no amount of maneuvering could actually spare you from getting damp, so be prepared. No worries, the climb would be manageable as the rocks (limestone) are not slippery. Apart from that, locals have intentionally wrought stepping/gripping holes in some levels prominently in level 2, which is the most challenging level, to make it easier for visitors to survive the climb. And yes, with the splendid view waiting at the top, it would all be worth it!
Entrance Fee (As of August 2015):
Php 20 – for local (Philippine) tourists/residents
Php 40 – for foreign tourists
(Based on the Rules and Regulations set by the LGU, stated in #1, this is not a form of discrimination but an exercise of valid classification based on citizenship)
For your assurance, I was informed that all guides in Aguinid underwent formal trainings, including first aid, to ensure that they have the capacity to keep sightseers safe and secured. They also set-up an emergency exit within the vicinity to address urgent cases/situations.
Ideally, you’d be needing at least 2 tour guides for this adventure. The first guide will be the one to assist you in climbing and the other one will be in charge of the documentation (meaning taking photos/videos) of the entire venture (of course you will have to provide them with the camera/phone). But if you’re not really that keen in framing pieces of experience like this, 1 guide will suffice. As to the fee, you can compensate them with any amount you’re willing to give. But if you have the means, I personally appeal, please hand them with a decent amount. Reason being is that, for most locals that serve as tourist guides here, this is their only source of living.
I would like to highlight the women who took charge of my safety and photo ops (whoop! Heheh) during my Aguinid scale – Ate Ruth and Ate Abel. Yes, I would like to stress “women” and “housewives” in this part. I was glad to know that they are given equal treatment and opportunity here to earn a living regardless of gender and age. Ate Ruth is in her late 40’s while Ate Abel is in her early 50’s. Not that I underestimated their ability, but it hit me a bit at the onset if they can really accompany me all the way to the top without hurting a bone (hahah).. I was actually more concern about them.. But they were certainly more than capable of the job. I then realized that as locals who grew up frequently ascending and descending the falls, it’s no surprise to see them do it effortlessly. They were like 2 caring mothers who made me feel secured while wading the waters and climbing the limestone structures. And most of all, they did not allow me to miss a chance of catching rare moments in almost every corner of the falls (hahah). They really got my heart and respect for the hardwork and passion they put into their job. Kudos to these mothers!
FYI, based on the information fed to me, there are at least 60+ guides in Aguinid. I have no doubt that they are equally efficient and competent. They have a queue system so everybody will be given the chance to work and earn. But in case you want to employ the services of Ate Ruth & Ate Abel, just send them a text or much better, give them a call (in advance) through below contact info:

Tips:
· If your schedule can afford it, get here on a weekday and early in the morning to avoid the influx of tourists. This is becoming a popular destination to both local and foreign tourists that’s why expect to be dealing with crowds during weekends and holidays. I strongly believe, well based on experience, that in almost all instances, crowds strongly affect the quality of your trip.
· There are cottages available for rent at designated areas where you can have a picnic with your family. You can bring your own foods but strictly up to the cottage area only. You cannot bring them during the actual trekking/climbing to prevent thrashes (that usually come in packaging materials) from polluting the area.
· You can leave your belongings at the registration area. You will be released with a number (tag) for claiming of your stuffs later on.
· There is no time restriction/limit in climbing the falls so take your time. Consider your most comfortable pace and always put your safety on top of everything.
· Secure your valuables (e.g. money, electronic gadgets, etc.) and enclose them in waterproof case/s if you plan to bring them with you all the way up.
· Locals in Samboan are generally warm. In fact, they are among the friendliest folks I’ve met so far. They are always ready to give you their genuine smile and hospitable reception. Don’t hesitate to smile back and make friends if given the opportunity J

We came here after the whale shark watching in the morning. It is about 30km away. We were assigned a guide for the whole time. She was very friendly and helped us with our dry bags. She even helped to take our photos.
Now, there are certain places where you need to take off your rubber shoes and climb up the big boulders. There are niches hewn into the rock so that your feet can slide into them to climb up. Follow the instructions from the guide for your own safety.
You will get wet at certain levels, so be properly attired for it. The rocks are non-slippery and easy to climb. This is the first time I come across such rocks as they are usually slippery at other waterfalls. The guide told us it is because the waters come from springs above. The water is very clean and clear. No food and drink is allowed to be taken in to preserve the pristine condition of the place. The guide also told us that the waterfalls is opened to the public as recent as just a year ago. Before that, outsiders do not know about them.
She also took us into a cave behind the Level 5 falls. We had a great time climbing into the cave and watching the waters falling downwards. Later, we went down again to another cave in the lower level falls.
We swam at a bigger pool in Level 2 for about half an hour before leaving. We gave her a tip of PHP200 for the two of us. She seemed pleased with the amount.
The Aguinid Falls is certainly worth a visit!

We had a great fun at the falls with our kids. We spent 1,5h there during a week day and the place was not crowded at all. We had plenty of time to enjoy the falls and we’ve been able to climb the 5 levels with all our kids even with the youngest one (2,5yo). It’s was a great thing to be accompanied and assisted by 2 guides during our “climb”.
Don’t forget to bring a dry bag, some rubber shoe that can go into the water and it’s better to wear shorts (for girls specially)if you don’t want to scratch your skin will “fun sliding” onto the rocks!
You can buy and rent everything there but don’t stop at the first shop: it’s much more expensive than the other ones ;)

We plan this trip with my best friend and his relatives. We went to South bus terminal at 4:30am and ride a bus Bato Barili via Samboan. It takes us 4 hours to finally arrived our destinations. We arrived at 8:30am in Aguinid falls and we are so lucky that the residence their is very accommodating and guide us to the shortcut way in going to Aguinid , so we do not need to ride a habal2x. We are quite excited to finally reach the destinations and bit nervous to take the challenge. We look for food for our breakfast and we also reserved food for our lunch. If you do not have any dry bag for your important stuff, you can purchased there in Aguinid since their area a lot of stores who are selling such dry bag, waterproof plastic for mobiles, rental of shoes for your challenge and so on. You can also rent a locker for P50.00 where you can store you stuff. Food is quite expensive, you need to have extra money if you do not like to bring your baon or pack lunch. We started our tricking at 9:30am, we registered our names and pay for P40.00 ( entrance and environmental fee ). They require us to hire two (2) tour guide since we are not familiar with the place but its up to us how much we will give them but we decided with the group that each of us will contribute P100.00 pesos each since they are very accommodating and they are our photographers. The rocks in Aguinid falls are not slippery and the area is safe to everyone. I think in level 3, you had a chance to jump almost 6 dip of water. Since i am scared or fear of heights, I decided not too take the challenge but most of my friends are taking the challenge so I change my mind. I was happy that I was able to jump and explore Aguinid. We just finished our challenge at 11:30am and had our delicious lunch. For first timer, you have to budget around Php1,000.00 each. Do not missed to include this in your bucket list. The place is so amazing .

We took the Ceres buses all through Cebu
They pick up and stop wherever you want.
If coming from Oslob direction you need to change but this is easy and very regular. We waited a maximum of 10 minutes for each bus
The waterfall is a short walk from the road .
The falls are outstanding and well worth the extra effort

I would like to know if there's any direct bus going from Dalaguete ( after completing Osmena mountain) to Aguinid falls (Sanboan) ?
or
must I take the bus from Dalaguete to Oslob first then take a habal-habal/ motorcycle ride to Aguinid falls ?

oh sorry i dont know how to book my family of 8 just walk-in around 9 am and they got us 2 tour guide. So booking in advance is not necessarily. Your transportation ( car) though should be schedule to make sure your trip is smooth i dont see bus or car on that place.

Aguinid Falls is a few minutes walk from the highway. If you're facing South then the area of the falls would be on your right side. There is a huge signage in the highway. And also, there will be tourist guides in the area. It is required to have two tourist guide to assist you in traversing the different levels of the falls.

These two are not near each other about 30min drive. In tumalog, u can swim longer coz there s enough space for swimming compared to Aguinid. In both,u do hiking, but adventure s far better in Aguinid.much better to go there n slow days so that u can enjoy better.
