This structure predates the pyramids and is considered by many to be the birthplace of stone architecture. Made entirely of stone, the ceiling mimics palm logs and the hall pillars mimic bundles of papyrus. No one really knows what this building was for since there is no inscription, yet it has its own beauty. Located adjacent to the Step Pyramid, it is worth a visit while at Saqqara.

Situated in the necropolis of Saqqara, the Mastaba of Ti is a finely decorated tomb that befits an Old Kingdom official. As an overseer, Ti was able to have a grand tomb that shows life during the Old Kingdom scenes including, daily life, fishing, harvesting of grain and trading. Well worth a visit.

The guide took us down to the vault on our knees through two low dust tunnels to see the sarcophagus when the real action is is the first level. We only spent a few hours in Saqqara which really deserves at least a day. beware they will try and charge you for an all inclusive ticket and then for individual sites on top .

The Mastaba of Ti is the tomb of a court official who served three kings during the 5th Dynasty. It is one of the most famous tombs of the Old Kingdom. It is located in the proximity of the step pyramid of Djoser.
The most interesting are the reliefs in the Mastaba of Ti .
They portray the agricultural scenes and scenes of ancient Egyptian daily life.

This tomb of an aide to three pharaohs is very interesting. There are several rooms full of wonderful carvings showing everyday life of ancient Egypt. It is well worth spending a bit of time here.

I am glad I got to see this Pyramid (tomb). It is not as big as the one in Giza but just as impressive.

This Mastaba of Ti was pretty deserted when we visited and it entailed a small overground walk in the sand to arrive at the destination. However the tomb is beautifully decorated and painted inside. I just stood in awe thinking of the date that the paint must have been applied. It is close to the Step Pyramid of Djoser and many other mastabas so it makes for an easy inclusion. I am so glad we did.

We loved the sights and the opportunity to enter the mastaba. It was also fascinating driving out to the edges of Gizawhere it is more agricultural and very different than modern Cairo.
