The fortified church is located near the main road. If you get there outside visiting hours just call the posted phone number and the keeper will come.
There is a small museum which displays some old pictures and some traditional clothing. The fortified church keeps a very simple and clean look. The rib vaulted ceiling of the churh though simple is eyecatching. A mix of corck screw stairs and wooden stairs takes you to the top of the tower where you can find the three bells and a nice view. But you can also take a photo from the narrow apertures on your way to the top. One of them oversees the nowadays road and the photo from that particular window may bring a nice touch.
You’re free to explore the location.

One of the many fortified churches in Transylvania which is not under protection from Unesco but absolute worth a visit. It has a very interesting museumabout the history of the people who fled western Europe with its poverty and found a new home in Transylvania. The church is stil in use in summer. The owners just openend a nice guesthouse where you can stay inside the fortified walls of the church. All in all well worth a visit.

The person taking care of the place was very available and very kind. There is a small saxon (săsesc) museum. We could walk on the wall, visit the church, which unfortunately suffers from rain /flooding. The tower is easy to climb to.

Wurmloch - Villa Viilor Fortified Church is one of a numbet of remaining fortified churches from Saxon Transylvania history. I was informed there were up to 300 at one period in time gone by.
The church is a relic of the Saxon community that lived in Transylvania for over 800 years. Sadly after the 1989 revolution, the community pretty much abandoned the village and fled to pastures new (whether in fear of being trapped as previously or otherwise I am not sure).
Now only a handful of Saxon inhabitants remain including the man that sells entrance tickets. He is a very nice man who took me around and explained about the Saxon history of not only Wurmloch but of the region. He was so interesting and I can only thank him.
Sadly the church is in need of renovations and I can only hope it gets funding or restoration soon. This visit was much more interesting than Biertan.

I come to Valea Viilor every year in summer and every time I find out more about the church, the Saxons that lived here and the culture of Romania today.

My Mother was born in Copsa Mica and raised in Valea Viilor. That's why we are in an association, to keep the church of my family up.

I'm doing tours with visitors during my stay and found out, that climbing up the two towers is fun, especially for children and teenagers. I'm always happy to see that young families from all over the world come here and are curious about history.

It's worth it to come to us, and if you're lucky we have some handmade Apple pie with apples from the tree inside the circle wall for you!

What I enjoy most when I visit this kind of church is to climb the bell tower and see the surroundings from above. The view is breathtaking and it worths the effort of climbing the thick stairs.

We didn't enter, we was on the hurry, however the church looks quite impressive with its strong walls. The dark stones of the church makes it very interesting. The village of Valea Viilor is at only 3.5-4 km from the main road and it is very easy to go, such if you have half an hour available go to visit the Curch.

One of the old fortified churches in Saxon Transylvania. In this one there is a small museum about the place and the Saxon culture. You can climb the tower, it is kind of an adventure as the tower is old and not specially rebuilt or adjusted for tourists - so look out for your head and don't fall down the stairs! There is a really nice elderly man who sells tickets and also is a guide. He is one of two Saxons still living in the village so if you know German you can listen to the fascinating history of this place. It is just the pity that such great community an its culture is just passing away and there are only reminescents of the importance and splendor that Saxons once had in Transylvania.

Small museum, mostly photographs from recent history where you pay the 5 lei entry fee. The church and fortified walls are very much like others in the area, Biertan and the lovely Copse Mare., Excellent. Along with the largely restored interior, tall columns with arched roof in the unpainted Lutheran style with wooden pews it looks as if it was used yesterday. Excellent altar piece.
