I didn't know this little church even existed until we came to it via a jeep safari. It contains museum quality frescos that normally the crowds are kept well away from. The frescos had more detail than I thought they would, but maybe it was...More

Fountoukli is a pretty church with an interesting story. I don't quite recall the details of the story as we visited many churches on our trip, but I can recall the feeling of stepping into history when entering Fountoukli. This particular church has been designated...More

Completely unspoilt by any attempt to update it. The frescos are original. It is easily accessible from a parking area at the roadside.

This church has a lot of history as it was accidentally bombed during World War II which took out the top of it. It was built to honor a gentleman's family that had perished. The fresco's inside are of his children. There are also some...More

...well described by fellow reviewers. I would like to add that the surrounding area "offers" tables, benches for picnic under the plan trees, designated bbq area. So despite the historical, religious interrest for the 15th century church, you may start or end hiking, bicycle in...More

This was the last part of our organised sightseeing day trip and well worth the stop. Well off the beaten track, the Byzantine Church is very small but charming never the less. There is no admission fee to the church but donations are welcome. Inside...More

Great church and a couple of lovely very old trees in the grounds. It is the sort of place that inspires you to sing a few bars to the embarrassment of your children. A special place and worth stopping along the way up/down from Mount...More

Tiny and charming Byzantine church which was the last part of our one day trip around the Island. Interestingly, the worship still takes place there. Very beautiful frescoes, a pity that in such bad shape. Why no one makes a conservation?
