Bandaje Arbi falls is 350 km from Bangalore and takes almost 7 hours to reach there. Bandaje Arbi falls is about 25 Kms from Dharmasthala in South Kanara district. A state transport or private bus from Dharmasthala to Mundaaje (16kms) or to Sunkasaale (83kms) can be the starting point of the route.

Bandaje Falls has become a hot tourist destination in the Western Ghats. It is a nice trekking spot too. To visit Bandaje Falls, there are actually two different routes. If you are travelling via Mangalore - Ujire, it is located 25 km from Ujire. Travel 6 km from Ujire towards Charmadi Ghat, take left at Somanthadka, travel for another 6 km, then take a right turn, and travel for 2 km to find a village named kadirudyavara, from where you can have the remote view of the Falls. However, you have to trek for 10 more km from Kadirudyavara to reach the falls. Locally this falls is called as Bandaje Arbi, where Arbi means falls.
Bandaje Arbi Falls, one of the breathtaking waterfalls in the Western Ghats, is located near Mundaaje, in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka. It cascades down from a height of 200 ft. Ballalarayana Durga is visible from the topmost point of the hill about an hour's walk up from arbi. This waterfall can also be reached by sunkasaale and Ballalarayana Durga.

Bandaje Falls has a very nice view, and it is believed to be 700 Metres above the sea level (though no one has officially measured it). It flows as a single stream, and falls from approximately 400+ metres in between the valleys of Western Ghat. This flows further and joins the river Netravathi as a tributary.

I would rate this as a tough trek through a thick jungle. The first time we tried to reach the falls a we went without a guide and lost our way. SO the second time we hired a local boy to guide us. The trek to the falls leads you across a stream, through the thick forests and finally across some grasslands on top of a hill to the falls. The whole experience was breath taking. We had to carry our own food and bedding and camped at the falls during the night. We started the trek at around 10:00 in the morning. The climb was steep and at some places the gradient was atleast 75 to 80 degrees. We cleared the forest and hit the grasslands at about 17:00 hrs so had to rush up on the grasslands to reach the summit. We finally reached the falls when it was dark (18:30). We could see hoof marks of the Bison's on the way. We spent the night at the campfire and frankly all of us were so tired we dozed off and none really know how many wild animals visited us. The sunrise and the sun set were breathtaking and the water fall is one of the coolest I have seen. Overall this was a once in a lifetime experience and an adventurist must visit the place.

Bandajje Arbi (falls in Tulu) is a brilliant Water falls located in the Charmadi ghats. It falls under the Belthangady side of Mangalore. It is a popular camping spot for avid trekkers looking for some peace and quiet over the weekend.

The trek starts in a small village called Bandajje ahead of Mundajje. People looking to visit here should ideally reach Ujjire and then make arrangements from there.

The Falls is bang in the middle of the forest and offers a bird's eye view of the entire valley. To reach the place one has to trek a good 4-5 hrs (all uphill through some dense jungles and streams ) till they reach the Arbi. Once at the Arbi , the camping spot is one of the most beautiful places you'll ever find. There is a clear fresh water mountain stream flowing just nearby.

You also get to witness one of the most beautiful sunsets ever from this place. The Ballalarayana Durga fort is an hour's walk from here. Its ruins stand tall even to this day, serving as a reminder of the grandeur of the kings that held sway here.

Bottomline being that, if you are looking for some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life, want get some old fashioned tech time off this would be it. Be advised that there is a fair amount of trekking involved and it wont be a walk in the park. You also would need Forest Department permission to trek here.

If you are an avid trekker you will definitely know what i am talking about.

Bandaje Arbi falls is located in the charmadi forest range. It is around 300kms from Bangalore. We took a KSRTC bus to dharamastala visited the temple. Its around 30kms from dharmastala. One can get a jeep rise till ujire and then you can go by the auto rickshaw to the base of the hill. There is one person who can get you some food (basically idli sambar and some rice item) if order it in advance. Bandaje Arbi falls trek can be done in 2 ways, one ascend from ujire side and descend in the same direction after seeing the falls. We ascended from ujire side and camped near the falls and then next day we further moved and saw Ballarayanadyrga Fort and descended near Horanadu side (better option). We had the darshan of goddess Annapoorneshwari and headed back to Bangalore by bus.
Carry lots of water and save some energy rich chocolates or bars. Don't forget to carry tent's, torches (2 per person recommend), Volini sprays and other required things. I don't remember paying any kind of entrance fee..but do carry identity cards.

The Place:
When you Google for Bandaje Water Falls: This is what you get......
Bandaje falls, also known as Bandaje Arbi falls is a waterfall located in the Kudremukha section of the Western Ghats in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. The waterfalls can be reached only by undertaking trekking in thick forests and grass lands with the help of local guides and in summer the waterfalls goes dry. The height of waterfalls is about 200 feet.

The Journey:
We went with a famous trek group from Bangalore called Charana, Suttata trek group. We were introduced to this group by one of our close family member, who were also trek enthusiasts. Putta HG was our friend, guide and a motivator for this trek. We, my wife and I I went to this place, I must say "Nature untouched".

The Experience:
We had a wonderful experience, we travelled on road from Bangalore to Darbarpet, Balur and freshen up in a homestay called "Rest Point". For more detailed itinerary pl refer above.

The Trek:
This difficulty level is Moderate to High. The terrain is simple but the distance is huge. One has to trek about 20 kms (both ways) on a single day with small luggage. As we move from one exciting stop to the other, the energy levels start draining. So, small kids and senior citizens must avoid this place, unless they are extremely fit.

The conclusion:
This is a MUST see place for a Trek enthusiast, and the best time to visit is Oct-Nov after the mansoon season.

The Request:
Don't spoil the nature, bring back all your plastic items incl. water bottles, chocolate covers, chips packets etc., Preserve the nature for its serenity and for the future good.

We are heading to another Trek .. and this time it is a fun filled Beach Trek.. Kumta to Gokarna in Karnataka, in Nov.

Wait for my personal reviews.. until then .. good bye ..

Good Luck and Happy Trekking....

PTU had assigned Oshin, a lively trek lead accompanied with Ayush ... The duo had done thier homework, knew thier job very well, knew the terrain thoroughly, and they were very good with people.

The duo offered a personalized element to the trip by continously engaging , organizing on the fly games, Oshin or Olive as we fondly call her will make you play some amazing games that are timed aptly.

Ayush will always be there for you at anytime of the day and never gets tired ! :-)

The trek was an amazing experience with such an element when strangers become good friends in no time and leads organize what is UNPLANNED for us with a fool proof plan. :-)

The trek as such is a easy to moderate, terrain is a combination of all, I personally found the steep fall to the waterfalls and the asend to be the hardest relatively... Iguess it would have been couple of thousan feet high, atleast in my head as a beginner ! :-)

Few things you should consider , however unplanned and adhoc ur trip is,

Please carry a RAINCOAT !
