This is my favourite part of Hadrian's Wall and I suspect I'm not alone. You can access the wall easily from the car park, hike easily to either Housesteads or Vindolanda and take in Sycamore Gap - "the Robin Hood Tree" - made famous by...More

So my Canadian brother in law had not yet seen Hadrians Wall....we had planned this several times but the weather had not been in our favour. We got lucky at the end of October 2018 with a clear blue sky stunning day. Be warned, even...More

Steel Rigg is an excellent place to hike portion of the Hadrian Wall. There is a parking lot with plenty of space, although like most of England, it will cost you a few pounds. We walked east towards the Sycamore Gap & Robin Hood tree....More

The car park is £2 per hour so fine for a short walk from there but a little on the high side for a longer walk. Within a very short stroll there is a section of the wall with some stunning scenery - it is...More

This was by far the most dramatic part of Hadrians Wall. A bit tough to get up there but worth every second of it!

A good base to join Hadrian’s Wall, or just to watch it’s path up the steep slopes. Car park is not that big and is pay and display.

This site gives you access to some stunning views of the Wall and surrounding countryside. Walks can be as short or long as you like. There is short walk of a couple of 100 metres or so on a gravelled path from the car park...More

Steel Rigg has some spectacular views of the landscape, and great, but steep, pieces of Hadrian's Wall. You pay for parking, so do take change with you. Wear outdoors clothes, and good walking boots. A stick might be useful for some.

We parked here and set off for a family walk along Hadrian's Wall. It's a good spot to set off from. However, there aren't many places. We were here in the week so it wasnt too busy. But I can imagine it gets rather full...More
