The Castle of Ostroh family was built in the end of 16th century. In 17 century it consisted of 12 buildings. It was reconstructed in 2008. It was destroyed by the bomb in 1944. Now it has roof and museum functions inside. Starting from 2017, the Sarkon Fest is organized in August during the nearest weekend to Ukrainian Independance day. While the fest you can listen to the mideval and modern music, taste traditional dishes and enjoy the knights battles.

Starokostiantyniv Castle is off the beaten path. I don't think they get alot of visitors but the hosts are very friendly and nice. They presented and explained exhibits to us. No room was close to us as they were happy to open them up for us to visit with. Do leave them a tip after if you enjoy your visit.
The castle is situated on the confluence of the Sluch and Ikopot rivers, built in the 16th century. From the castle it is an easy 10 minutes walk through a residential area to the Tower of the former Dominican Monastery where one can see the Virgin Mary's face on the wall of the decrepit tower if you squint hard enough.

The castle, where hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and other leaders of the Zaporozhye Cossacks had council to make a decision whether to rebel against Poland in 1648. Also, the place is known for the murder of all Dominican friars in the nearby Polish Catholic monastery by Maksym Kryvonis, one of the Cossack leaders of Khmelnytsky Uprising. The town was home for Vladimir Lenin's granfather Blank (allegedly, he ran away from the town due to the fire that he started). The castle is in ruins and therefore looks genuine.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE
The fortress, stony gates and remains of Dominican monastery. Inside there are not restored rooms, chambers and halls. The room of Bohdan Khmelnitsky is restored.
WHAT YOU WILL NOT SEE
No labeled exhibits, costumed shows, wax figures, interactive screens or audio tours.
PRICE
We gave $4 for a guided tour for four.
SUGGESTIONS
It is strongly recommended to hire a guide - otherwise the entire structure will look to you just like a pile of bricks. Also, spare 15 minutes to see the remains of the Dominican monastery. No food/drinks available. Not accessible by wheelchair.
