We drove four hours from La Clusaz (France) to Brunnen for the opportunity to make a Swiss Army knife. This has been on my husbands bucket list since he saw the challenge on an episode of The Amazing Race. As soon as I knew we were planning a trip to France/Switzerland I searched how and where to do this. The visitor centre in Brunnen isn’t huge but you can learn about the history of Victorinox and, if you have booked an appointment in advance, get to make your own Spartan Swiss Army knife. For CHF35 a member of staff guides you through piecing each component of the knife together, selecting a casing of your choice from a range of colours and choosing what to have engraved on the knife. Each appt lasts 15 mins, we made three, husband, daughter and son and they were all thrilled with their end products. This is a great thing to do if you are in or close to Brunnen. The town itself was SO beautiful with stunning lake and mountain views that the experience and sights made our four hour drive each way well worth it. In fact next time we go to Switzerland we plan to stay in Brunnen.

I needed to service my big knife with tools and sharpen the blades of both this knife and a pair of scissors. Excellent service at a very reasonable price. Totally satisfied.
