Margarites is a very lovely little village with real Cretan taste. It's a simple place away from the many touristy places around the island. Worth a visit for those who wish to get a real feeling of the local life here.

This is an amazing pottery with a great choice of hand made articles, some beautifully decorated. Watching one of the ladies make couple of pots was fascinating. Prices were very reasonable and staff helpful.

Explained VERY well in English how the pots are made, where the clay comes from, how long they go in the oven. This is a must see. The whole village is pottery central. But this is the one you should visit.

Run by the fourth generation of family potters this attraction is at the North end of the village of Margarites so you must get miss it. The handmade Cretan ceramics are varied and beautiful as well as being reasonably priced. You can watch the potters...More
