Don’t miss this store if you visit Margarites. Not only do owners Giorgis and Mariniki Dalamvelas have an extensive selection of (affordable) items, Giorgis provides pottery-making demonstrations on a wheel in the shop, and shares numerous examples of the innovative ways Minoans and later Cretan residents used pottery for everyday tasks. Giorgis makes the pottery but Mariniki is the artist who creates intriguing designs on the finished products. She also packed our purchases well so they made it home safely.

We spend several weeks in beautiful Margarites Village. The hospitality and warmth of the villagers were more than we could have ever imagined. The only exception was Kerameion Georgios Dalamvelas seller lady whot did his best to upsets the mind of us and our a five-year-old child, not once but several times. We understand that it wasn't our fault that she behaved rude to customers, but that is why we can not recommend this place to anyone.

What amazing people Giorgis and Mariniki Dalamvelas are. Their workshop in Crete's legendary ceramic center holds pottery treasures you cannot imagine. This was our second trip to Margarites in search of an artisan capable of recreating Minoan pottery. Fate stuck, and we landed back at Kerameion by the suggestion of my friend, who is the Curator at Knossos Palace.

A review here cannot portray accurately the skill, artistry, and dedication of these two wonderful Cretans. They have, in effect, brought back to life a ceramic tradition that was the envy of the ancient world. Take note, their functional works of authentic beauty are not simple recreations, they are new Minoan pieces that perpetuate an incomparable civilization.

If you are on Crete, go here to remember what is possible from the human hard and human hands. A wonderful revisitation, thanks, guys!

If you visit Margarites, known for its pottery and ceramics traditions, this shop is a must-see. It's refreshingly modern and the souvenirs are not the usual kitsch you find elsewhere on Crete. Granted, most pottery shops in Margarites offer superb quality, but this one adds a dash of originality and surprise in the mix. You will always find a little something to bring back home with you. :)

Kerameion is amazing. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was captivated by the textures and colors, the shapes and the delicate perfection of every piece these potters have created. Giorgis Dalambelas has some of the most impressive pottery I have ever seen.

Steadfastly traditional, these wonderful works of art remind me of the finest ceramics I've seen from Minoan masters whose works now sit in the world's most famous museums. Do not miss this shop if you are in Margarites.

This is a quaint town that you'll absolutely love. Loaded with neat pottery and ceramic places it offers lovely craftsmanship without the touristy twist. This place was amazing. Simple pottery pieces to purchase. But please stay for a demonstration or ask for one. The potter is an English speaking chap who shows you how it's done and the unusual and fun pieces he makes. Affordable pottery that's function and easy to fit into your packed suitcase.

George was amazing in all aspects of ceramic making. His live demonstration of modeling raw clay( from the local mountains) was phenomenal and such a privilege to observe! My sister and I were so impressed with the Pottery that we couldn’t go home without it!

Such a wonderful surprise!
This little pottery studio is a true gem and we were so happy to have stumbled upon it. The potter and his wife were so very friendly and gave us so much information even though it would have been their siesta time.
We bought quite a lot of items and were thrilled to learn so much about the background of these designs. As a result I now have to lug a beautiful vase all over Europe in my hand luggage! It will be worth it 😍.
Make sure to visit this lovely studio!!

Ceramics with soul! George shapes it, Mariniki decorates it and his daughter the beautiful Nefeli fills it with sweetness and let her not yet believe the value of her parents' art, although she knows it inside. Ancient secrets come to life in your hands, children, an art unique. Well done
