The ancient pagoda in Wuwei City is thirty-three meters high. It is divided into twelve layers, hollow brick masonry, is octagonal, and a Kumarajiva "tongue" stupa. It is built in a temple called Kumaraji Temple. This is an active place of worship, and there were a few monks going about there regular daily activities.

It’s been a while since I saw a temple that I liked as much as this. It is calm and peaceful. There is the pagoda but the surrounding buildings is worth a visit as well. During my visit, right before lunchtime, it was not at all crowded. There was some constructions around the area and around one building on the temple grounds, but there are plenty of buildings to go around so that’s no biggie!
The city gate is close by and you’ll pass some interesting genuine “old” Chinese quarters on your way, just keep your eyes open!

Free to enter. Can spend 5 minutes viewing the pagoda. Peaceful temple complex where Buddhist chants can be heard. Within the city, so easy to walk to.

Had a wonderful visit here, wandering the different temples. A monk let us into one of the temples which is closed off, which was a treat.
