We are so glad that our hotel suggested that we drive to this ski area, just 30 minutes outside of Ottawa.

Most of the staff were amazing. You can tell that they pride themselves on helping you learn to ski and making your day a fabulous one!

Christian helped set our kids up with the best fit instructors for our needs. Knowing our little one has never been on skis, he made sure that she not only had key staff work with her but also assured us that she was doing great throughout our 2 days there. Thank you to Abigail, Shawn and Dave for working with our little one and making her love her first time on skis!!

We are SO happy that we got to know Dave. Not only did he do a lesson with our older kids to make sure they were comfortable before heading out on their own but he also made sure that we came back and solidified this skill. It was such a pleasure chatting with him. You can tell he loves what he does and loves working at Vorlage. We don’t get to enjoy the slopes very much with our hectic schedules and ski hills that aren’t so close to where we live but he encouraged us to come back for a second day and we’re thrilled that we did.

From renting equipment, to buying goggles in the Pro shop to staff in the cafe, you run a really neat operation. It’s a small enough ski resort where we didn’t have to wait in long line ups and the kids got to maximize on their skiing.

We will definitely be back next season! Our kids were truly disappointed when we couldn’t go south for the break but they definitely aren’t disappointed now that they describe their amazing experience just outside of Ottawa with two full days of skiing! Thanks Vorlage!

This is a ski resort that is perfect for families with small kids. It is also located directly in the village of Wakefield. So, perfect for an after ski at one of the restau or at a pub.

Great little beginner hill for those transitioning from the Magic Carpet to a Chair Lift. Beginner chair is low enough that the little ones can get on by themselves.

Reasonable price, 2:1 tickets usually given out at the Ottawa Ski Show.

Only 30 min drive from downtown Ottawa

We took our 2 grandkids (4 & 7) for their first ski experience this past Saturday.
Rental package all inclusive w/ 1hr private lesson for each of the grandkids was very good. 2 great instructors taught the kids in an hour lesson. Before you knew it they were skiing snowplough ( now called pizza) !
Kids had a blast!

This is a great hill for introducing people to skiing or enjoying for a few hours with friends and family. The price is good (especially on 2 for 1 nights) and it isn't too crowded. It's a small hill so the runs are short but there is a good variety and they are well-groomed. Our favourite feature is that night skiing starts earlier than most places - 3:00 so you actually get a fair bit of daylight to ski in.

It has nice smooth and wide run for beginners, like myself. I have not tried the difficult ones yet. I wish there are maps displayed that I can know my choices of routes with color code.

I've been coming here my whole life and it always feels like home. The resort is small but the hills are groomed and the resort itself is well maintained in and out. There are a decent amount of runs and the bunny hills are perfect for beginners, very easy. Definitely a good place for people just starting out. The lodge is nice, has a comfy upstairs with large fireplace. Not too far from Ottawa.

Ski Vorlage has a vertical of only over 400 feet, and only uses double chairs, a T-Bar, and a rope tow. Their double black diamond, by the name of "Headwall" is not extremely difficult, but is extremely disappointing. It is a good area for families with very young skiers/riders. There is some hike able terrain between the "blue chair" hill and the "bunny hill", by the name of "Stairway to Heaven", even though the undeveloped area only has 400 feet of vertical, and does not reach very high above sea level. Although, there are nice pillow lines and cliff hucks on the terrain accessible by Stairway to Heaven.
