Raja Ampat remains a paradise but more and more people know how to find it

When i visited Raja Ampat in 2014 I stayed on Kri Island. The south side appeared remote with just one homestay (Lumba Lumba). Now there are three home-stays. Both Kri and Mansuar were packed with visitors when I was there Feb 2017. Places like Pianemo island changed rapidly and you can see how it has been influenced by the presence... More

Visibility in Raja Ampat is considered to be poor if it is about 10 meters (which is great vis for many places). The Mantas are plenty and amazing. People are very friendly. Diving is quite advanced with crazy currents, I recommend Raja ampat for experienced divers.

No need to hurry or rush to get in here. First, prepare your itinerary for exploring the island or archipelago, because the cost to islands hopping is extremely expensive. If you are a certified diver, then you must go to this place and checked your ultimate bucket list.

I'd been advised to take the 'trip of a lifetime' on the Indo Siren to Raja Ampat. The boat was great with a good range of facilities. The cabins were of good size and well-appointed too. The local staff were friendly, experienced and always ready to help. A good range of food was available that led to an expanding waistline.... More

Raja Ampat is not a developed area of Indonesian. Sorong is the main airport town for entry to Raja Ampat. It has a few hotels, but it is not really a tourist location. Most tourists go to Sorong to catch a liveaboard or a ferry to a resort. My trip to Sorong was to catch the Blue Manta liveaboard, where... More

Booked rooms with locals, but do not expect luxury there. It is all about nature, sea and simple life.

We arrived in Sorong one day before departure trip. In the morning, one of the DM picked us up at the hotel, we went straight to the pier and then on the boat. It is a luxury liveaboard with a huge dive deck. There are 8 cabins, all are big with plenty of storage, lots of space between the beds,... More

We had an amazing 9 day, 8 night dive trip in Raja Ampat on the liveaboard Mermaid II with 19 of us. The diving was incredible – so many varieties of fish, coral, sharks, and manta rays up close! Most of us said it was the best diving we have ever done. We also really enjoyed having some beach parties,... More
