While doing Game Drives ( Jungle Safari) in Bandhavgarh, our guide has shown us some ancient man made caves which showed human presence there in the olden days. We were told that there are about 39 caves in this national park, surrounding to the Bandhavgarh fort hill, in radius of 5 kms. The oldest caves appear to be as ancient as the first century A.D.

The caves are situated in Tala Zone of Bandhavgarh forest. So one can visit these caves only doing safari in Tala Gate of the forest. However, only safari jeep (06 tourists) is allowed in Tala Gate. Safari jeeps are booked from union office or through MP Tourism web site. Natural beauty of these caves are outstanding.

Good to stop for a breakfast if you have time and visit these old caves (full of bats) that once were used by soldiers in Bandhavgarh.
