A popular temple with the visitors, people pay their obeisance to the goddess deity by tying small bells wish making their wishes. The name of the temple comes from the hula on which the goddess rests. As for the innumerable bells that dot the premises and the wonderful feel it gives, you get it only when you visit in person. Enjoy the photos.

The Best Jula temple will be at Bhowali (Via Raniket Bhimtal route), however, nothing wrong in visiting this if you are also going to Choubatia garden. A small temple and as mentioned if you are going for the first time, you would enjoy

The temple complex is filled with numerous ringing bells. One can tie a bell only after his/her wish is fulfilled. The temple is beautifully maintained. Must visit place if you ever visit Ranikhet.

700 years ago Chaubatia was a dense forest inhabited by a number of wild animals including leopards and tigers . They used to harass the villagers by snatching their livestocks . The poor villagers prayed Maa Durga requesting her to get rid off the menance . The goddess asked a shepherd in his dream to dig up at an instructed place to find an idol and to construct a temple for the idol at that site . The villagers followed her instructions and got rid off the wild animals . So fearless children merrily played on swings . Seeing those merry making kids , Ma Durga wished to have her own swing ( Jhula ) . So she again appeared in one villager’s dream and asked him to give her a Jhula .The devotees placed her on a wooden Jhula in the sanctum sanctorum and since then she was called Jhula Devi .
The wooden jhula had wrought iron fabrications fitted on three sides except the front one of it . The jhula was placed on ground . It would have been a great idea if a short rope might have been tied to the hanging jhula and the grateful devotees got the honour to swing the jhula little bit .
The present temple complex was constructed in 1935 . The innumerable bells hanging in the complex testified the healing power of Maa Durga aka Jhula Devi . I wished to tie a bell there too , not for any of my wish was fulfilled by the Goddess , but just to honour the management of the temple which kept the temple so neat and clean that I wished all our temples should be like this .

It is a very historic temple next to Chaubatia garden having a huge reverence of goddess Durga by locals and by people living in other places in the country. It is believed that if you make a wish with a true heart and take an oath to tie the bell in temple after the wish is completed, then your wish(es) comes true. It is in a very beautiful location and the surrounding is very calm and quiet. This will bring you the inner peace.
