I visited Chaubatia and Jhula Devi temple but found it stricly average and can be skipped according to me. However Haidakhan temple is quite decent and the view from the temple is quite scenic. I would rate it as the only place worth visiting if in Ranikhet.
I feel Ranikhet can be covered in 2 hours.

This is a must visit place in ranikhet even if you are not spiritually inclined it worth the visit for the amazing view of entire Himalayan range. You can see all the peak from here and the good thing is they have kept a board wherein from a point you stand you can identify all the peaks.

If you at a devotee of Hedalhan, visit is a must anyway. If you are not a devotee, don't visit hoping an excellent temple architecturally or thinking about the place for the view of it.
We went in the evening and its Arti is famous. Majority present during Aarti were foreigners. However, as any temple will have, it's peaceful to sit there and spending sometime with yourself is always good.

Haidakhan Babaji Tepmle is located near Chaubattia and is a beautiful temple filled with the memories and teaching of Haidakhan Baba. the 180 degree view of various snow cladded peaks like trishul parvat, etc is simply breathtaking. There are accomodations where there as large number of foreign tourist reside and sing bhajans in the temple. There are lot of branches of this temple worldwide. One of the best thing about this place is a charitable hospital and a Panchkarma center that has good Ayurveda healing and detoxifying programmes like Nasya for sinus, etc. We have tested it and found it very effective.

We recently spent a couple of days at Ranikhet and had occasion to visit the peaceful environs of Baba Haidakhan temple and ashram at Chillianaula about 4 Kms away from Ranikhet market. Do note that this place is sometimes spelt as Hairakhan and sometimes as Haidakhan the reason being the pronunciation of the sound in the local language. Tripadvisor itself shows it as two different places to see in Ranikhet but they are one and the same! (Hope someone at Tripadvisor will make the necessary correction!)
Getting back to the temple it is dedicated to Haidakhan Baba and there is a lot of reading material about his life and teachings on the net. The place is worth a visit for its serene locale and panoramic views of the mountains. One can simply sit in the well maintained garden surrounding the temple and soak in the serenity of the place. They have 'arti' (a Hindu ritual invocation to the Gods) in the morning as well as well as evening for an hour (these days it was from 7 to 8 both in the morning and in the evening) with the foreign resident members of the ashram conducting the proceedings. Joining in the the morning 'aarti' with its soulful chanting and rhythmic ringing of bells was an amazing experience and I would recommend you time your visit to the temple such that you can participate in one of these.

The one thing that you want to do when you visit this temple is just enjoy the silence. The aarti is beautiful and a must attend event. There are few people, they encourage and help you in joining the aarti and while the aarti is going on, people can join to prepare bel patra, and prasad for the next day.
The temple is open to new ideas and that reflects when they give chocolates among traditional prasad. Accept everything from everyone. Beautiful and heartening. The view of the valley from the temple is excellent. The drive to the temple is full of foggy roads and pine trees.

Better visit this place than crap Rani Jheel and Chaubatia. Experience the best driving experience and awesome nature-view when going to and at this temple. Very well maintained, neat and clean temple without any insistence to donate any thing here. no usual tourist menace here. Peace and Nature. True Bliss.

I have elderly parents, who have knee issues, so climbing is a problem. Are there many stairs there? Is there any provision for wheelchair assistance? Thanks.

What is the best time to visit this place

This place provide a great view of Mountain Range. Hence I'll suggest to visit it at sunrise/sunset. Moreover, It's a temple....a place to sit, relax or meditate in peace. Hence, It'll be good to visit it at the start or end of the day. Just make sure to visit it before sunset otherwise you'll not be able to view the scenic beauty.
