Probably this takes you the farthest away from where you can't plan for visiting any other place. My taxi fellow was clear about this. He also emphatically told that there is nothing to view out there as t would be all dried up or at max would be a small water body. Nothing worth visiting he told. Of course the alternative places he took us certainly didn't make me rue missing out on this dam.

It's a beautiful dam built i british era but not worth the visit . It takes an hour from ranikhet to reach here and it's very peaceful and transquillient . it's a hidden beauty in the wilderness but not that appealing to specially make a trip for this place .

My wife and I visited the place from chaubatia garden , Ranikhet. A local guide is a must as the path is in wilderness. It’s a short 1 hour trek each way but steep and leaves you panting . The dam was built by British to control flow of rainwater but is in a state of total
Neglect. No maintenance.Dam is located in a beautiful valley with langurs and monkeys around . Overall a must visit place if you like Mother Nature .

It was a wonderful adventure pedal-boating on a hired boat ('dingi') amidst the lush-green forests and orchards.

its good for photographers and long walk up the dam. no vehicle will go here so you have to trek and come back.

The destination is average but the journey from choubatia to bhalu dam is worth travelling. Good 7-8 kms mixed terrain adds to the thrill.

Me and my wife opted to go to Bhalu Dam but it was beyond my imagination the route to Dam... It is 3 Km Down and then 3 Km Up in the whole journey... 3 Km down is not a problem but 3 Km up is a big big big problem... My wife had lot of problem to get towards up... She hardly could climb for 1 minute in continuity and then used to sit down... It was not a horrible visit but yes in case you have any serious medical condition at down there is no option/support to help you out... So I suggest if you are physically fit only then go to this place...

To reach this place is bit tough as the road is very bad. There is nothing to see much. I will not recommend to go this place. There are lots of others place in Ranikhet where you can find many other things.
