When Saibaba came to Shirdi as young lad with a marriage party he was greeted by Mhalsapati who managed the temple. His furst words were Aao Sai ( Come Sai) and thus he got the name Sai. The temple had idol of Khandoba with his two wives. It is next to Saibaba hospital. Must see.

This is the place where Mhalsapathi identified the satguru in the lad who came riding a horse carriage as part of a marriage party. "Ao Sai", this is how Mhalsapathi, addressed the lad.
