- Damodar T53 contributionsExcellent carvingsVery old Jain temple. The security is very strict and they don’t allow mobile and cameras. There are five temples and the workmanship on marbles is mesmerising and designs are excellent. A must visit place in Mount Abu. Entry is free.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 3 October 2023
- Teertha GKolkata (Calcutta), India763 contributionsTruly wonderfulThese nearly 1000 years old temples are a good enough reason to visit not only Mount Abu but Rajasthan itself. I doubt any finer/better marble carvings can be found anywhere else in this world. The carvings on the main two temples are truly breathtaking. You can spend 3 to 4 hours here and still cannot fully explore and appreciate what is in offer. The temples do not look impressive from outside, which I understand was done to protect them and avoid attack from invaders. Inside its a different world. Temple authority do not allow mobiles, cameras, lighters or any large bags to be taken inside the complex and all of them can be kept at the locker room against a fee of INR 50. Entry is free and the entire complex is very well maintained and clean. I only wish they would have allowed cameras to be taken in, even against an exorbitant fee, so that people could share the beauty of these temples more easily.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 December 2023
- Jyotirmay Arya56 contributionsBeautiful ancient templeThis temple was built about 900 years ago at a cost of ₹18, 53 crores (at that time). Carvings on the roof and pillars are beautiful and mesmerising. Carrying mobile phone is not allowed inside the temple hence no photos.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 February 2024
- Roji Jacob GeorgeThiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), India90 contributionsOne place not to miss.Must see place when you visit Udaipur. 3hr drive. Vimal Vasahi and Luna Vasahi are too good. The work on marble is so very intricate and feast to our eyes. Photography is not allowed inside the temple complex.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 February 2024
- Ambarish2012Kolkata (Calcutta), India188 contributionsMust visitPlease note that it is open for tourists from 11 am to 5 pm. Jains can visit at any time. As such, plan your visit accordingly. Ladies need to wear a Dopatta (head scarf). Photography is prohibited. So, savor the moment and take pictures in your mind. Small but beautiful place. 2 of the temples have exquisite cravings. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes to see them.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 July 2024

A must see Mahaveer Jain Temple for its intrinsic marble work. There are four temples in the compound and all are awe inspiring. Mobile phones are not allowed inside and you need to deposit them at the counter for a fee of Rs 50/-.

They take 25 rupees for 1 phone which has to be submitted so suggest you to keep mobile phones in car safely. Shorts and anything above knee height is prohibited so they provide a white cloth to be worn and cover full body. Teples were built during 1031 AD and it is an amaing, peaceful place. CHai Maggi and other shopping shops are available there. One can attend morning prayers which starts from 7 am till 11 am so it is not advisable to go after 12 pm

Dilwara Jain temples are one of the finest pieces of Architecture in the Indian History. The temples located just a km away from the city center are also a major tourist attraction in Mt. Abu. The Jain temples are famous for its carvings. There are close to 7 different temples within the complex and each of them seem to compete with each other on the architecture front. The top of the temples looks rustic and untidy, specially designed to prevent it from being looted and destroyed. The temples have a great piece of history and you surely need a few hours to enjoy it fully. It is open only to Jains in the morning and tourists can visit here post 12 pm once the daily rituals get over.

After knowing the story of temple we appreciate it art work done 1400 years ago.
They have built in just 14years.
World knows about taj mahal art work but we felt art work at dilwara is too recommendable and fabulous.

The temple has one of the most fascinating architecture. The temple was built in the early 16 th century. The fine carvings on marble makes one wonder how much skill the people had during those days when there were no engineering tools. A must visit place.

Total of 5 Jain temples. The exquisite carvings (Jain history) and white marble architecture just amazes you with our ancestors capabilities in those times. I definitely would say this is far superior to Taj Mahal when comparing with white marble architecture. Opens from 12pm to 5pm only. No mobiles allowed or else u need to pay 50rs for cloak room facility. So no option of capturing this magnificent temple.

The Dilwara Temples are the reason you travel to Mt Abu. Nowhere else can you admire such intricate carvings in sparkling white marble. You could spend whole day in these 5 temples ; everywhere you look stunning sculptures demand your attention.
Dilwara could, and maybe should, be the #1 tourist attraction in India. The reason it isn't, is because no photography is allowed - no camera, no mobile. So how can you attract a public if no record can be shown ??!
So I have scanned some images ; I'm sure you will enjoy and I hope Dilwara will open up one day.

Is the temple open for public in Feb-Mar, as in Google it is showing as temporarily closed?

Post COVID, specifically Nov’2020 what time can non Jains enter the temple and at what time can they leave

Hi,
I'd like to know is it elderly people friendly, meaning does it require too much of walking inside the premises or the accessibility is it through a huge flight of stairs or how is it?
If someone can provide some information, it would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
Written 6 July 2019
Don’t worry about stairs, temples are spread horizontally, So stairs are minimum. Elderly people can visit & devote without any problem.

What time does the entry close for non-jain visitors? Are normal mobile phones (without camera) also restricted inside the complex?

Can the car be taken right upto the Dilwara temple? Do we have to climb many steps to reach the temple complex? Please answer both these ques as the person accompanying me has a physical problem of walking long distance & climbing many steps.

The car is allowed only till the entrance after which you have to walk for approx 200-300 mtrs before you enter the complex. Once you enter the premise the overall most of the temples have 2-3 steps except the last 3 temples which have approx 15-20 big steps. Just to remind you, the temple is open for visiting for Non Jains between 12 noon to 6 pm. They have assigned temple guides and pundits to take you through the tour there
Remember to deposit phones, shoes and leather bags and belts (though not mandatory) just before the queue of entering!!
Trust this helps

I want to go barefoot to the temple. How far is it from car parking?
If it is too far, can I keep shoes in a secure place with token? Or in a locker, paid or free?
Written 24 January 2017
main temple is about 500 to 600 mtr. And there is a secure locker for shoes mobile and other leather articles at temple main gate.

How much time is needed to finish Dilwara Jain Temple visit?
Written 23 December 2016
Although many suggestions said 45 to 1 hr, but I would say you should spend much time here. In 1 Hr it will be a just a 'formality' to cover one beautiful place. I would rather suggest to visit the temple with guide first, then revisit the temple your own and enjoy the beautiful architectural masterpiece.
A real Indian fine marble architecture.

Are shoes allowed in the temple? I read that leather shoes must be left outside. But what about shoes that are made of rubber and canvas?
Written 17 July 2016
Footwear of any material were not allowed in the temple...there is a shoe rack outside the temple where you can keep your shoes...
