About
Venture out onto a viewing platform to take in the beauty of The Blue Eye, a natural spring with vibrant blue waters so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. Swimming is prohibited, allowing you to take some stunning photos. The lighting in the early morning is particularly magical. The spring is an easy hike from the parking area on paved roads—enjoy the walk through lush vegetation along the way and refresh at the small cafe before you make the return journey back to civilization. Visit during spring and autumn for fewer crowds. – Tripadvisor

- Katie BOttawa, Canada362 contributionsWorth visiting! We took a trip to the Blue Eye during our trip to Sarandë and it was absolutely stunning! We booked a private driver through one of the travel companies near the ferry port. The drive to the Blue Eye from Sarandë was nice and it gave us an opportunity to see the surrounding areas and all of the beautiful mountains. The landscape was beautiful. It is a bit of a walk to get to the lagoon, with a lot of it being uphill. There is also a road leading up that some people were taking electric scooters on. The lagoon itself is so beautiful. The water is so clear and blue. Definitely worth a visit if you’re staying in the area!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 October 2023
- Jannie dDronten, The Netherlands17 contributionsHiking trail is to be recommendedThe blue eyes itself is pretty but not as big as we expected. There's a paved path up the hill (approx 30 min walk) which is all right, but on the way back we discovered the hiking trail around the lake (30-45 min) which is a much nicer trail and also leads to the blue eye! Go to the right just before the entrance and start you trail next to the bee hives.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 October 2023
- Kristi M32 contributionsReach Blue Eye With KMG Blue Eye Shuttle the regular cheapest optionBlue eye is worth a visit. We used the KMG blue Eye shuttle leaving every 30 min from close to the Saranda promenade towards Blue eye. The total cost 1400 lek per person to go and lao come back. They will be there at blue eye every 30 min so you can always catch one of their luxuriua vans in a very reasonable price.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2024
- Jim AChicago, Illinois40 contributionsA must-see!Incredible experience! Mesmerizing 50-meter-deep brilliant blue hole gushing volumes of pristine water to the surface, creating a picturesque river. It's a 20-minute walk on a paved path (uphill all the way there) to reach the viewing area. Tickets are 50 lek each. Unbelievable for what you get to see!Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 20 April 2024
- Enjoy S1 contributionWorth a swim and nice hike. KMG shuttle to go there a great optionDefinitely worth a visit for all people who love the nature. Beautiful cristal clear waters and nice hike. Used the KMG blue eye shuttle to go from saranda to blue eye. Realiable service every hour and much cheaper than taxi. Bus was overcrowded, dirty and only ice per day.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2024
- Faye B7 contributionsThere are toilets.....The blue eye is is beautiful.. quite a short walk to the eye itself but is very ungulating in parts. Very cheap to enter and worth money Sadly, the man in the ticket booth told people there were no toilets, leading to people ruining some land not far in with their own make shift toilet. Just walk about ten mins and there are two toilet blocks. Such a shame! But so beautiful at the eye itselfVisited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 1 July 2024
- Jennifer B53 contributionsBeautiful blue eye!Visited with my family, 4 and 1 year old children, last week. You pay for parking as mentioned in other reviews then it is about a 30 minute walk to the blue eye itself. It isn’t shaded and we were there around 9.30am and it was hot! We opted to walk to blue eye initially, and had a double buggy which was totally fine on the paths all the way to blue eye. Viewing only takes around 10 minutes, and I can imagine it gets very crowded as the day goes on and the car park fills up! Blue eye is beautiful though - the colours are stunning. The shop I would say has very pretty, less tacky things in it and reasonable! We got the land train back, which only charged for the adults and our children were free!! Definitely say it’s worth it!! We enjoyed our visit, just be aware of how much it takes to get there :)Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 July 2024
- angcer33 contributionsBeautiful waterThe parking lot is very large, and the price was 0-3h 300 leke. We set out on a hot day, but it was too hot, so we decided to go to the Blue eye with the small train (300 lek in one direction). Otherwise, you have to walk for half an hour. The blue eye is very beautiful, the water is so clean and has a beautiful color. The surrounding nature is also beautiful. Around there are restaurants/cafes that are also nicely decorated and have a good vibe. Honestly, for me, the place is a little overrated. It's nice, but we drove long with a car, and then from the parking lot to the Blue eye just to see iz for 5 minutes. You have nothing special to do there. Although swimming is prohibited, many people still swimmed. As for driving, I think it is more profitable for 2 people to rent a scooter than to ride the small train.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 July 2024
- Darcy RLondon, United Kingdom4 contributionsIncredible place to take some photos!Beautiful place to visit and not too busy. There’s a restaurant there which we didn’t get time to check out but we spent a bit of time wandering this beautiful site on our way to another destination. Highly recommend taking the mini train/car thing as the walk is quite long.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 August 2024
- Roving346538143479 contributionsBlue eye tourBeautiful place to visit in Albânia. Clear and freezing water but possible to swim in. Great suroundings. Nice train ride for 3 euros per person each way, but you can rent a small motobike for 2 for 5 or 10 €, or you can just walk there.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 August 2024

He definitely deserves to go see it. The walk to get there takes 30 minutes under the sun and makes you lose the excitement of seeing it. The train costs 6 euros round trip but puts you in a position to fully enjoy the beautiful ravines, alternatively the motorcycle or scooter, personally I do not recommend walking. Often if after 11am different people give tickets after the return just ask, or even there they sell at half price. It deserves to swim quickly even if forbidden but the water is cold

A bit overrated. It is nice, but not something unique. Coming by the macadam road (2km) one might consider to be "getting in the nature mood", however infrastructure around the spring is damaged (the little bridge is like something from Indiana Jones films, platform above the spring is broken). Garbage nearby doesn't contribute to the whole picture. Just to mention that we visited very early (7 AM), there was no crowd (mentioned in some ratings), and the nearby restaurant (which seems to be very nice place) was still closed.

Since the weather wasn't sunny, so we decided to take a walk in the park, and see what it was so famous for.
The very first advice is to wear only comfortable shoes, otherwise it can be bad, take a small bottle of water with you, a camera and money (souvenirs only on the top were sold).
Well, the first time we got there was in our car, from Xamil about an hour away. We drove up all the time, immediately of course we didn't know where we were coming, because immediately there's a parking lot, and there's lots of parking lots, cars, buses, we kind of knew we were here. But, it's not those modern parking lots, it's just a fenced-in place where the uncles are standing and pointing to where to go and where not to go. Then you're directed to the booth where you buy a ticket for the parking lot. Then you go up there already on the serious fence and booth where you buy a ticket to visit the park (like 10 euros), I don't remember exactly. You can still buy separately a ticket for a small, pretty, train that will take you up (5 euros, one way only), you can still rent to go up electric scooters, I don't know the price.
Generally m way up, tedious, but, the path is good, comfortable, basically everyone goes themselves and considers the beauty around, in the form of trees of shrubs, churning streams, etc.
Although it was September and the weather was not great, there were many people, and speech was heard in different languages.
We went up, and there to go to any place to take a picture you have to wait in line, plus all the time climbing up, I was almost crawling, the paths are narrow, there are cliffs or waterfalls below, the adrenaline I certainly got with the full.
But honestly, it's all worth it, it's really very unusually beautiful when you look at the blue eye - you don't believe your eyes - it's bright, it's mesmerizing, and the color is blue, it's not real, like in a fairy tale.
Still clean with clear waterfalls, they are small but turbulent and flow into a river that flows fast, with rapids, there are bridges across it where you can stand to watch the river rush.
There are also photo areas with local flavor, a restaurant, a toilet.
Return, who likes it, on foot, by train (5 euros).
We went down on foot, tired, but impressed, the satisfied drove back to Xamil.

The site is really beautiful, but people come to take their picture for social media and there it is. We cling to a place to immediately consume this jewel of nature that unfortunately loses a lot of charm. There is a hike from 1h30 to 3h depending on your pace, most of the way is in the wooded part, but nothing is indicated if you are more or less close to the exit. And it is forbidden to swim except on the part that hosts the restaurant, swimming possible so but not free.
The park remains very beautiful but ideally you have to go there at the opening or before closing to have a little less crowded, admission costs 100 lek per person, and parking 300 lek on 3-6 hours.

The place is quite interesting and the "Olho Azul" is undoubtedly worth a visit. I have to criticize the organization (it seems to be transversal to Albanian society): the rules are not to be followed. There is a paid parking lot on the access road, but if you approach the entrance, there are lots where you can park for free; There are signs prohibiting entering the lagoon, but there were a lot of people jumping there (creating rules and not monitoring them is counterproductive).

A tourist catch.
With a spring of a few square meters and some nice colors, they made us a mega-business for tourists.
Minimum parking 3 euros, entrance 50 cnts just to not make you leave, and if you do not want to walk 20 minutes there is a train for 3 euros gone plus 3 euros for the return. The toilets are also closed. Ridicolo!

Absolutely unreal beauty. The water is is a pure bright blue color, surrounded by plants and beautiful cobalt blue dragonflies. I wish I could spend every day here. Definitely worth the trip.

This place is beautiful with its icy, crystal-clear water in stunning, unreal colors. The water bubbles up from the ground and looks like it’s slowly boiling. Entrance costs 50 cents, and parking is 3 euros, though there are a few free spots available. The walk to the site is easy and beauty, but if you prefer not to walk, there hase a train for 3 euros or a scooter for 2 adults and a child costs 5 euros. On-site, there’s a charming café with turtles that you can pet if you ask. You can also rent boats on the lake, but the views are fairly ordinary, so I wouldn’t spend too much time on that. I like blue eye a lot.

We had such a good experience at this tailor. We came here and just wanted to buy one shirt per person but ended with 5 trousers and 6 shirts - all without feeling pressured. Chung was such a nice person and made the clothes exactly as we wanted it to. We would highly recommend this shop and we will probably keep in touch with them overseas if we should need tailored clothes again!

The Blue Eye is a really beautiful spring with crystal clear water that would be drinkable if there weren't hundreds of sweaty people bathing in it. The signs saying that the water should not be entered are skillfully ignored and the newly built viewing platform is used as a diving platform. Unfortunately, many people throw their rubbish in corners and bushes even though there are special rubbish bins.
You can park either for free about 2km away or 1.5km away for 200LEK. Entry is OK at 50LEK per person.
E-scooters are now also being rented out to save you the walk to the spring.
If you have the opportunity, you should be there early in the morning, then you still have the chance to enjoy this unique natural experience in peace and almost alone.
