I cant recommend this tour enough! Its a wonderful mix of relaxing through the backwaters by motorised canoe, whilst getting a taste of authentic village activities, and local knowledge from Sanu. Canoe Kerela has a deep community focus and involves locals by showcasing their traditional crafts and by purchasing tea and fresh coconuts as part of the tour. If you're going to do one tour whist in Kerela, this is the one!!

Excellent sunrise cruise with local sightseeing and interacting with local people. The best part was the water lilies, amazing birds and awesome views. Also stopped at a local Toddy shop for tea and coconut water.
Would definitely recommend this if in Kumarakom.

We not only did the cruise but also stayed with these guys at their beautiful cottage named Little Chembaka.

Words cannot do justice to the amazing experience we had. The cottage is beautifully built, clean and well maintained. The sinks and bathroom floors are all wooden, adding beautiful earthiness to the decor. But the highlight of the trip has to be the food and conversations around it. If you are looking for a local experience that revolves around delicious home cooked food, look no further.

The canoe ride was also wonderful. Though a little nervous about the tiny boat at first, we quickly settled down and enjoyed the rest the of the ride.

In two words - Highly Recommended!

This morning’s sunrise canoe cruise with Jes was a fantastic experience. He rowed us around the backwaters in a small canoe as the sun was rising and it was fascinating to see the backwaters and the villages come to life. We were able to walk around a small riverside village, take tea, watch a toddy tapper at work and taste a fresh toddy, and visit a school. As well as stunning scenery it was great to have an insight into local life.
Jes is incredibly friendly and informative, and really passionate about supporting the community in the backwaters that we visited.
English is spoken to a high standard and safety is also a key focus. Local hotel pick up and drop off was arranged by Canoe Kerala.
It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend this.

There aren't enough words to express how amazing was this experience. From lip smacking food by Jesvanth curated especially for you to experiencing the village life and activities with Sanu, everything left me wanting for more. The best part was how they made us feel like family, surprising us with a beautiful decorations for our anniversary while we were returning back from the sunset ride. They had beautiful arrangement and a cake there for us. And we all celebrated together, drank and shared our stories over a sumptuous meal. And the stay is very tidy, near and completely a luxury. Every detail has been well thought out. If you have a day to spend in Kumarakom or Alleppey then spend it here.

Fantastic experience - getting up early was definitely worth it! Sanu was a great host; very friendly and knowledgeable. We went for the sunrise tour, which included a boat trip through the lake/backwaters for birdwatching and a visit to a local village where we were lucky enough to have some chai with the locals, try out some weaving with coconut leaves and coir making and drink some toddy :) We even tried some fishing back at the Wonderwerk restaurant - Sanu was very kind and generous with his time! It was such a pleasure learning about the local culture, so thank you Sanu!
