ドイツ館と賀川豊彦記念館の間にあります。両館に行ったついでにお土産を探しに入りました。菓子類のお土産の他に鳴門金時やトマトなど地元の野菜がありました。またドイツ館にちなんだ第九がらみのケーキや和三盆、一筆箋などは素敵でした。軽食堂があり、メニューにはドイツビールやソーセージも。ここは地元の鳴ちゅるうどんをいただきました。やさしい味でした。全体に人も少なく、のんびりできました。

この道の駅は、坂野インターから車で10分程度のところにあります。
名前の第九というのは、ベートーヴェンの第九からとられています。
第一次世界大戦の際、この地で捕虜となったドイツ兵が日本で初めて第九を演奏したのだそうです。
物産館は、捕虜収容所を移築したものです。中では地元の特産品が売られています。立派な野菜や果物が販売されていました。
訪問した時は、ちょうど東北の被災地のの学生さんたちが見学に来ていました。

霊山寺、大朝彦神社、ドイツ村の帰りなら近くて寄れる。鳴門名物のさつまいもブランド「里娘」とレンコンがあった。１箱３０００円で５ｋｇだが、地元のおばちゃんに聞いたところ、里娘の「生産者番号」によって値段も味も違うらしい。おばちゃん、「４７番がいいよ」だって。でも見当たらなかった。

正直言って何故こんなところに道の駅が？更に何故「第九の里」のネーミングなの？って感じで、立ち寄りました。第九の里の意味もわかりました。41号線沿いなのですがバスの便は良くなかったです。

隣のドイツ館にも行きたかったのですが、年始のお詣り客の渋滞にはまり、右折禁止などの交通事情の悪さで、物産展に閉店ギリギリの17:00に入店しましたが、とっても親切な店員さん方に癒されました。

ドイツ館のそばに位置しています。
ここの建家は坂東俘虜収容所で実際に使われていたものを移転したものです。写真にあるように平成16年登録有形文化財に指定されているという由緒あるものです。この建家の中にドイツ俘虜たちが暮らしていたことを想いながらしっかり建家を観察しました。

1.訪問の経緯
鳴門市より高松市を目指して、途中霊山寺に行こうとしたら霊山寺は車の進行方向反対側にあり、ユーターン場所を探していたら、偶然行き着いたものである。
2.宅配便でのビール他の送付
立ち寄った当初はトイレとユーターンが目的であったが、道の駅店内でホテルの料理で美味しかった生わかめを見つけたのでお土産で持って帰ろうとしたが、店員の指摘では生わかめは常温で2-3日しか持たないとのことであった。
このため息子夫婦達に宅配便で送り、我々が帰るまで冷蔵庫に保管してもらおうとした。どうせ宅配便で送るならばついでに他の物を買ってしまおうと次のような土産を購入した。
生わかめ すだち鳥チキンカレー 阿波尾鳥を使ったチキンカレー すだち醤油 鳴門産天然もずく 手絞り柚子しぼり。
以上のような鳴門の特産物に限定しようとしていたが店内外の掲示で隣接するドイツ館及びこの店の設立の経緯を知り、この感動を息子達にも伝えようとドイツ産のビールを購入し、鳴門の特産物とドイツ館設立の経緯を説明するパンフレットとともに息子達に送った。

Since I had the chance to visit, I decided to buy some Naruto Kintoki sweets. The store was on the small side and the selection was limited so it wasn't that exciting, but I was glad to be able to explore the area together with the nearby German Pavilion!
