Amazing place to visit in Nariño. I highly recommend to rent a kayak instead of a boat. The fish is exquisite. Very recommended.

This is the most relaxing and beautiful place I've visited. It is gorgeous and so calm, at night you can only hear the water. Try to go on weekdays and not in high season as you'll be able to enjoy the scenery without so much noise. If at all possible, try to plan your trip to be there during a full moon, it will be lit all night and it's as clear as a late afternoon but more magical and peaceful. Also, if you can, stay at the Sindamanoy hotel as it has the best view of the hotel. Just be aware that it's a little bit cold as it is located 2800 mts above sea level and it's humid, so it get pretty cold at night, but it's totally worth it. You can also visit the lovely town that resembles Swiss chalets where you must go to the Naturalia restaurant that has the best food in town, and in Nariño and probably in Colombia. You can ride a boat and take a trip around the lake and get pictures of the landscapes and some animals. Just lovely!!

A peaceful and scenic place. Boat trip is obligatory to see the lagoon but cheaper if you go with other people. Too many restaurants to eat trout as well. Not the best place for vegetarians!

I visited this place by chance because a taxi driver recommended it.
The Laguna is very peaceful and you can take a boat and go round it and feel the cold breeze.
The town is very interesting, all the houses are made of wood and very colourful.
There are loads of restaurants and you must try the lovely trout which is produced locally.
This is such and amazing place to visit so if you can go and see it

The little town surrounding the embarcadero is so unique in Colombia. Even with rain (which is usual) a walk around shops y restaurants is worth it. Then head to the island and do the path. A must in this town

Beautiful lake. I recommend you rent a lancha. The price is worth it. The restaurants are a bit redundant but the architecture is pretty. The farm trout here and the restaurants do a nice job.

We traveled for 1 hour from Pasto. The sancuary is VERY dissapointing. Didn't see even one bird. Didn't even hear one bird. The view is nice but does not worth the travel. There were too many people. Had to pay for the banio and put down the water myself with a bucket.

This is a great day trip from Pasto.
Easy to get there by collectivo from near park Bolivar (5000 COP), travel about 40 minutes through very pretty landscape.
We got out of the bus by the turn to the village and walked the two kilometers to enjoy a slow arrival to the village. This is very pleasant stroll.
The village itself is incredibly pictoresque and cute with lots of colors and wooden houses on stilts, completely different from everything we've seen in Colombia.
You can take a boat to the island (50000COP per boat) and hike through a beautiful forest to a viewpoint (entrance fee 10000 COP). The boat will wait for you. It's also a great place to swim if you don't mind cold-ish water.
In the town there are plenty of restaurants with set menus with a local trout - delicious (8000 - 12000 COP per meal).

Really great day out! Plus the weather is usually better by the lake than in Pasto.
Highly recommended!
