Surfers from different locations. Surf clubs / schools, bar/restaurants. Wide beachfront. Nice people and a lot of fun and good restaurants. Absolutely recommend

Loved the location of this beautiful beach, lined with little beach bars and restaurants. Plenty of car parks. However, when we were there it was extremely windy.

One of the TOP beaches on the Costa de la Luz, do not miss out on this gem. Wide open with wonderful clear Atlantic waters! A must!

Personally it’s the best beach in the area. The sunsets are breathtaking and you can see them after spending the whole day surfing while you enjoy a live flamenco concert

Beautiful beach with lots of bars to relax in. There’s wind surfing and surfing shops and boutiques. It’s a lovely walk along the front.

El Palmar is a special place. Planning laws have stopped the typical sprawling Spanish beach resort development. Instead it has grown into a sort of hippy, 'surfy', shanti town. Colourful, funky, frontline, pop-up styled bars, hippy markets and surf schools make way for all kinds of makeshift dwellings - containers, caravans and campers and pre fab type houses. Have a word with one of the owners and you may well end up staying in one for the night.

The vibe is friendly, cool and relaxed. Surf in the day and drink and dance at night but, whatever you do, the focus is beach life. If your idea of a Spanish holiday is Benidorm or Marbella, then you may well be disappointed. For me, El Palmar is a jewel. I loved it.

Fantastic beach amazing scenery just spend a lot of months there .. great walks fabulous for water sports.. Pity about the dog poo and sometimes packs of dogs running unleashed!! Apart from doggy issues this could be one of the best holiday destination in Europe

Great unspoiled beach, no big hotels yet, but plenty of surf camps and hostels. Restaurants are overpriced but parking is fair. Plenty of surfers which means waves, but mostly during winter. Most restaurants closed during winter, will come again for the surf..

El Palmar is set between Conil and Vejer. If you come from Conil don't follow the sign in English for beaches, instead turn left and south at the roundabout and follow the 2144 towards Vejer (I think it's signposted 'Cabo de Trafalgar' - another place worth visiting!) You can see Palmar beach below you in the distance. After about 5 minutes drive a small road appears on the right signposted Palmar. Take this and 2 minutes later you arrive at the small junction. If you want super quiet, then turn right - there are a few bars and restaurants and a lovely view north up the beach to Conil. You can park for free next to the dunes but at the weekend it gets busy. For a bit more life, turn left at the junction. You immediately come across little bars, restaurants, hostels and surf schools. It's a super casual place and if you can't get free parking loads of private parking areas have sprung up behind the bars for about 5 euros a day. The beach here is simply great. In total it's about 5 km long. The Atlantic just appears huge and empty in front of you.The beach is sandy and wide. It does get windy, If you get lucky it's just lie in the sun with not many people around you, listening to the waves. In June the Atlantic is cold but it gets hot here in the sun so it's great to cool down in. So, this is a beautiful place, cool and surfy, with some nice bars and restaurants and a super place to just relax and let time go by.
