Visit our family wine making by appointment. A family winery and ancestral estate with a vivid and almost tangible spirit of tradition and history, situated at the very top of St. Urban wine village featuring a magnificent view dozens of miles around, in the shade of two ancient sycamore trees, immense serene landmarks to any wayfarer exploring the landscape. Given that tradition is dominating the wine cellar, the vineyards display a completely modern approach revealing the family as true masters of their trade: high-density planting, short pruning, low yields, grassy surfaces and steep slopes for necessary insolation provide the best possible grape quality which, of course is clearly reflected in the wine. The tasting room, where you spend most of the time anyway is a magnificent attraction of its own. A miraculous wooden lodge, masterfully handcrafted from parts of the old presses, used barrel staves and other pieces of traditional cellar inventory, it is a genuine family museum. The rigorous attention to every detail and the exceptional effort are plainly visible in the quality of the wines, sincere interpretation of the Lovrec character. These are rich and powerful wines in a fairly different style from other regional producers, always with subdued, moderate acidity and lightly elevated level of alcohol, very stable and definitely capable of aging. They appear in two key categories: sweet Predicates or Regular semi-dry and dry wines. The outstanding predicates can be compared in style and quality with the best Pinot Gris or Gewurztraminer from Alsace, the dry and semi-dry wines however are a fantastic expression of the personality of both Lovrec father and son. They simply do not care about trends and insistently keep pushing their sincere conviction and belief by promoting very rich, soft, delicious, lush, sometimes sweet and potent wines crafted in utter harmony between man and nature. This is sustainable winemaking and viticulture the Lovrec Family way. ( written by Croatian journalist Saša Špiranec)

1. My husband and I were road-tripping from Vienna, through slovenia, croatia and slovakia. On our way to Bratislava, we detoured through Medimurje, so glad we did. Vino Lovrec is off the beaten path, very few tourists, and its a beautiful drive on the countryside....More

One of the oldest and most beautiful wineries in Medjimurje. Almost a museum, the family-driven economy offers to the guests a bit of history, a lot of hospitality and great wines.

We had called a day ahead to ask for an English guided tour and wine tasting, went perfect! The tour was good and the wine even better! We bought four bottles so we can enjoy it later at home

Highly recommended. It includeded tour throughout vinyard, small familly museum and tasting of 8 wine variates, all accompanied by interesting comments. Jasna is a great host and we felt very comfortable. Two hours we had spent there past very quickly.

No better stop to taste fantastic wines in this north-Croatian country side. Although we did a spontaneous stop without reservation, Jana was super friendly and shared her tremendous knowledge of wine-culture, not only linked to this property, but 'world wide' and with great history details.
