Very attractive, cobbled square and much bigger than I anticipated. Gorgeous historic buildings, in white with green trim. Plenty of cafés, restaurants and shops both in the square and the side streets, as well as a few museums. Lots of attractions within the surrounding area too. Lovely place to spend a few days.

I have been coming to Villa de Leyva since 2011 and always enjoy my visit’s. I always enjoy sitting at one of the cafes at the perimeter of this generous sized plaza and enjoy simply relaxing in its midst.

Enjoy your stay as I have!

Life is good in Villa de Leyva, Boyaca!

I visited this beautiful place in January with my wife. This town is a one hotspot place in Colombia, is visited by many foreigners.

There we visited the Chocolate Museum and we drank a chocolate beer, this experience was amazing. In this museum you can find different recipes with cacao.

Next to the museum we visited a dessert shop, in this place we bought a Milhoja, it is a great dessert. Also, there we visited a wineyard Umaña-Dajud and we did a wine testing.

Villa de Leyva is an important touristic place ubicated in Boyacá, Colombia. Is a place where you can visit with your family and know more about Colombia history and culture. This place is one of the most beautiful in Colombia. The architecture is so beautiful and unique because it is colonial.

The "Plaza Mayor" is the center of the entire municipality and is one of the largest in the country. Around it, you can find a variety of typical restaurants, cafeterias, and places to buy a souvenir. Something that tourists like a lot are the balconies that are seen in most houses. Local people decorate them with flowers, and they look colorful.

In addition to "Plaza Mayor", you can also go to the blue wells. They are in the middle of a desert, there are 6 crystalline lakes with a bluish tone. To get to know them you take a walk or ride a horse. Along the way, there is a place where people leave piles of stones of different sizes.

In conclusion, Villa de Leyva is a place that you should visit if you go to Colombia. It is ideal for making a family plan or with friends. Not only is it one more to the list, but you will also get to know the Colombian culture. It is a very beautiful place that you will never forget.

Interesting place for a stroll and do some people watching.

Colonial structures surround the square with a church ad a focal point.

Worth a visit if in the area.

The largest main square across little towns in Colombia, beautifully preserved in an entire colonial style. The view is clean. An ideal place to sit down, talk and view people passing by

A very well preserved plaza with colonial styled architecture, backed by mountain views. Loved the cobbles streets. A great place for photos.

Every time we visit Villa de Leiva, going to Plaza Mayor is a must and we are always surprise by the activites that take place there.
Last time we went there was the Astronomy weekend. Many people brought their telescopes and shared with the visitors, just for sharing their love for space.
A pleasure!

I was in 2016. I stayed with my family in Bogota but we decided, visit this wonderful place. I was only there once but, is a place that i would like to visit again. This is a beautiful and quiet town located, about three hours from Bogota.

In Villa de Leyva you will find hotels, good gastronomy, craft shops and the largest square in Colombia. This place doesn´t have many activities to do it´s a beautiful and quiet place where you can enjoy a day with your family, coupleor friends and learn more about the local culture

Still not sure that this plaza is bigger than the one in Tunja, but they say it is....definitely older, and the cobbled areas a bit treacherous for walking across. Lots of activity here depending on the time of day...and some of the. Festivals take place here as well!
