The beach is beautiful, but it’s not worth the drive if you’re not passing by. There is a restaurant in the beach, but the food is not very good. And, as many places in the country, it is dirty and full of rubbish.

This was our turnaround point on a motorcycle trip from Lombok. Great beach. Friendly locals. Clean sand and water. Very quiet during the week - busier on weekends. Stayed at Blasius' Homestay. Lovely man and his wife, Serafina, ia a wonderful cook. These are friendly, honest, hospitable people. I will be back for sure

This beach was stunning beautiful and clean. It was a fabulous place to relax for a few hours on your travels around Flores. Even though it was crowded with locals, it was still clean. Had fresh bbq fish for lunch by the sea. Hard to leave.

Visited the bay in mid-June 2022. The unreasonable and exorbitant "entrance fee" somewhat ruined the experience of visiting the stunning bay.
First of all, it is a public place and the local authorities do not charge people (local and abroad) for visiting the place (already done fact-check with the local tour guide).
There are 2 "entrances" before reaching the bay area. The local folks living in that area guard that 2 entrances. They charge people for a total of IDR40,000 (at time of writing) i.e. IDR20,000 for passing each post. For my case, they charged IDR20,000 per vehicle for passing each post.
DO NOT even think of eating at the restaurant in the bay area. God knows how would they charge for the meal.

Koka beach is a bit rough to get to and the area is quite simple but the beach itself is amazing. Powdery soft white sand, impressive jungle hillsides that look a bit like a cross between Nusa Penida and Ora Beach in the Malluku's on a slightly less grand scale. This is one stop on a trans-Flores itinerary that is well worth making! Climb up the hill between the two beaches for amazing views.

We have been to Koka Beach before and eaten at Blasius’ restaurant which is still excellent. Fresh grilled fish, rice and vegetable plus fresh fruit. Right on the beach. This time we stayed in the new little cabins he has built. They are very basic and could be quite hot. Just up the hill, but with lovely views and an attached bathroom with sit on toilet (but you flush it yourself by pouring water down). It was clean and there is electricity from a generator in the evening. If you are up for it, it’s fantastic. Early morning on the beach by ourselves. Truly magic.

Is it still a beach with almost no resort, just nature or did it change?

Hi Nelly, well it all depends where you're going, for Koka Beach which is south, it's only a beach nothing to see when snorkeling, best place are Riung, Komodo Park and Maumere.
But it might be busy in july, and Komodo is not cheap, around 60 euros for a day out with a shared local boat.
Hi!
Does anyone know how to contact Blasius Homestay or Homestay Sake Gare?
Thanks!

Bonjour,
