It is a large museum and differs from the others with its fast amount of vehicles, tanks an sceneries. Every aspect is well displayed and accompanied with photographs and text. Don’t forget to visit the beach and the cemetery, both close by.
A big thank you from all the museum staff for your comment ! See you soon in Normandy !

Great to see with kids as it is very visual and not too big
We really enjoyed the Overload museum. Good location and parking. Very close to the Omaha beach and the American Commentary and Memorial. The museum is small, well organised, very visual with an impressive collection. It is perfect for families with kids. My kids (age 13,10 and 6) really liked it. The gift shop has a lot to offer and the staff was friendly.
We're delighted that both young and adutlt have enjoyed the museum. Attracting new generations is one of our main objectives. Thank you for your feedback!

    Brings the war to life
Best war museum I've ever been to. Doesn't take too long to walk around but the scenes that have been recreated with real tanks, trucks, guns, uninforms, etc. from the war really bring it to life. The settings include mannequins and they are so lifelike. No two faces are alike - they are all unique. I felt some were about to come to life at any minute. Mesmerizing for me. Do it!
A big thank you for your comment and the recommendation !

Absolute must for anyone interested in the D Day landings
Amazing place full of relics about the battle and lots of items all carefully restored. Two large tanks outside on the grass and its situated about 1 mile from the Cemetery. Paid about 10 Euros entrance fee. I passed a small museum before this and was confused because this had collections from the war and was situated in a large house and shed. I paid about 8 Euros to see that although it was worthwhile. Lots of displays and you get a real feel for the D Day landings and the horror that was facing people as they landed. After walking round here I turned left out of the gate and followed the signs first to the cemetery then down to the beach. The beach had memorials there and it was really Eerie. I didn't realise just how close this was to the cliffs and the beach itself
Thank you for your feedback, we're glad you enjoyed your visit !

    Impressive and great storytelling
Our visit to the Overlord Museum was a great experience. In the beginning I was a bit hesitant as it was really crowded, but it turned out to be ok. The crowd spread across the museum. The museum shows you a really strong timeline on events with great story’s around the events that are displayed. Well Kept equipment, vehicles and memorabilia. Highly recommend to visit Overlord
Thank you so much for all these compliments and for the recommendation ! See you soon at the museum !

    Not to be missed!
Extensive and very comprehensive museum, not only about D-Day, but also the whole of WW2 from build-up to the end. Vast collection of artefacts, with fantastic authentic street and battlefield displays. Throughout the museum, clear information boards in 3 languages added to the experience. Moving real accounts and photos of veterans at the end of the tour. Great gift shop with a wide range of souvenirs. We spent almost 2 hours here and did not feel rushed. Free entrance for veterans, which was appreciated. Highly recommend a visit.

My father was part of D-Day, landing on Omaha Beach as part of the 29th Division, we wanted to visit where he had been. There are lots of museums to pick from in the Normandy area, so based on our host's recommendation, we chose to visit the Overlord Museum. Museum is easy to find, right across from the entrance to the American Cemetery. It tries to tell more than just the story of D-day, with segments about the German occupation. Signage is very good in multiple languages, lots of artifacts and dioramas to show the participants, including even some with the Germans. It took us roughly an hour to complete.
A few minor gripes:
- Would loved to have heard more about the average soldiers on the beach-- perhaps some of recordings of their recollections.
- I had the feeling that much of the history told is slanted towards British viewpoint. Examples: "the raid at Dieppe was urged by the Americans" (which is not true-- if anything, it was urged by Churchill and Mountbatten) and overstating the role of Montgomery in the initial operations (he was the Ground Force commander, but had little influence over the American beach operations), but nothing about how Monty screwed up and let the Germans trapped in the Falaise pocket escape.
- There was hardly ANYTHING to be found about the 29th DIvision-- lots about "Big Red One" (1st Infantry), but the 29th was right there in the thick of Omaha beach, yet not mentioned much. And NOTHING in the gift shop about the 29th. Lots of 82nd Airborne and 1st Division...

This is a detailed exhibition of events during the war. The manniquins create scenes of events during the war. It has weapons, vehicles, soldiers outfits and war memorabilia. It takes a while to walk through but it is a worthwhile visit.
One of the best museums to visit.

One of the top three museums I would suggest when visiting the Normandy area. Fantastic exhibits with very informative information to read along side. Wasn’t too busy in the AM and wasn’t rushed to enjoy the exhibits

We were overwhelmed by the amazing collection and displays at this museum - we picked only one of the many local museums to visit and this was it, and we were not at all disappointed. We followed this with a stop at the US cemetery just a couple of minutes away. Amazing.

Really excellent collections and displays. Sadly I could only spend an hour here due to being on a tight schedule but the displays were great. Loved the armour especially. Would definitely return.
