We were going to the castle. It's a nice piece of history and your ticket includes free boat service to and from the castle every 30 minutes. Our weather was beautiful but I saw a sign that said "closed due to weather ". I am...More

We went down to the dock to catch the boat across to the castle but just missed it, the men quickly came back for us and we were so grateful. Very friendly. Castle is undergoing renovations but lots is still accessible and so wonderful to...More

This castle, located on a rock in the middle of the bay (hence the town name Castlebay) is well worth a visit. It is the home of the Clan MacNeill. The castle is not too large and the enclosing walls cut the wind, so it...More

You simply cant miss this historic gem if you are coming to Barra. You get a ferry to visit and imagine clan life over the centuries.

A must visit when on Barra. Very good value for money, about £5 for the boat trip and entrance fee. Very well maintained by Historic Scotland.

You can either buy your ticket from the tourist information point or the visitor centre in the castle. A short boat ride of two or three minutes gets you out to the castle, the boat makes the return trip every half hour so once there...More

Parts of the castle are closed for renovation so even less to see but if you are looking for something to do and do not mind spending the £6.00 plus for entry (less for seniors) then it is worth a visit. The boat picks up...More

Sorry for delay, is it Kisimul Castle on Barra you are enquiring about?, if so, yes there is a small charge, I think about £4 per adult, it is very small but steeped in history and well worth a visit x
