I’m surprised there are still so many Soviet style squares in Ukraine, Mukachevo was no different. Lots of vacant storefronts although busy with people mulling around.

With nice buildings from the Austrian and Czechoslovak times, interesting history, lot of terrasses, shops, icecream... Nice for walking.

Most of the square is a pedestrian area so you can wander along it and look at its interesting sights without being run over by a fast moving car. The square is lined by shops, cafes and restaurants, at one end stands the Cathedral of St. Martin, at the other the very typical town hall. Other interesting buildings are the former Bata house (the corner building at the traffic lights, opposite the cathedral), the theatre, the Shoenborn Palace or the birtplace of Mihaly Munkacsy, the painter. And you should not miss the Cyril and Methodius Monument and statue od chimney sweep.

This is the historical central part of the town. Here you can find St. Cyril and Methodius Monument and walk under the trees, which is especially nice in a hot day

Myru Square is the city center of Mukacheve! Restored and rebuilt with a European flair, this square is the ideal place to know the life of locals. Unlike many other Ukrainian cities, Myru Square has an attractive charm.
