We had a 3 night stay here. We booked and paid extra for a room with a view (the alternative is to look at an Oil depot) and the view was some trees. Behind that is the Loch and the bridge but we could not see it. The room was in the extension on the ground floor. We could hear everything the occupants of the room above us did to walking about to going to the toilet so that put a damper on it. However the food was good and the service also good. A pint of lager and a Jack Daniels and Diet cola was £8.60 and average meal £13 a head. 3 Nights including breakfast (not traditional Scottish more English) and 3 nights meals for 2 was just over £500. However the room is comfortable enough just needs better sound insulation.

Someone recommended this phenomenon to us and I found it fascinating. My husband found somewhere to park the car and we walked to where we could view the “falls”. You need to check the website to see the best time of day to visit or else it could be very boring.

These are different! We parked on the side of the road and walked on to the bridge to see the tidal waves coming up river. If you park at the car park provided you cannot see the effect of the water. It is wise to check what time of day you go there as it depends on tides

To the comment Neil from England about our beautiful historical bridge I need to say this . Your offensive comments make you look foolish not only is that bridge of significant importance it is also over 100 years old and was the longest cantilever bridge in Europe before our rail bridge. Please take time to note the historical value of such engineering at a time where. Technology was non existent. I'm sure the locals of Oban and Connel will appreciate your comments. Stay in England as Scotland has no time for arrogant stobish ignorance

Been before when it was quite wild, right tide. This time it was not but it was still nice to see. Some rescue boats were out doing something which was nice to watch. I still find the name misleading but hey😬 most people know what to expect and if you don’t, you were probably just passing this place.

We were lucky enough to catch a handful of seals basking on the submerged island as the tide was going out. Water flows fast here at tide change and makes a real noise.
Lovely views and worth viewing

Beautiful hotel! Clean, tidy, wonderful breakfast. We struggled a bit with our journey to our next destination, and Michael the owner went above and beyond to help us, he is the nicest person!! I highly recommend staying here

This phenomenon depends solely on the tide, so it really is hit or miss if you see it.
It is worth seeing If you get the chance but check the tidal times before travelling far.

We passed the Falls several times during a recent trip to Oban, and were lucky enough to see them fiercely whorling and foaming.
Part of me wished I could grab a kayak and get out there on the white water, but while observing the stroppy maelstrom for a time the uncanny and capricious nature of the Falls revealed itself.
This turbulent stretch could be treacherous, and while it is a beautiful sight to watch I pity anyone finding themselves in the Falls' fateful embrace.
Enjoy from afar, take care and steer clear.
