We visited Lagavulin for the 1 hour distillery tour. We hadn't booked (would definitely advise doing so!) however fortunately due to a party not turning up, they kindly accommodated us. Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgable and humourous, above and beyond the standard of...More

A very professional tour at only £6 which included a wee dram of your choice and a small Lagavulin malt glass. I have been on other distillery tours on the mainland but this was one of the best. No pressure to buy at the end...More

We (2 people) had a sensory tasting at Lagavulin distillery led by Ruth on Tuesday 12th September. We really enjoyed both the whiskies we tasted, the discussion and things we leaned about tasting whisky, and last but not least Ruth's knowledge about the whiskies and...More

We enjoyed the hospitality of the Lagavulin Distillery today in Port Ellen, on the lovely island of Islay. Our host and guide,Jackie, had the perfect combination of knowledge and sense of humour to make the whole tour interesting and fun. Lots of facts along with...More

Jackie was a great tour guide. She reviewed the history of distilling in Port Ellen to the process of distilling. It included hands on activities such as tasting the barley, sipping the malt to watching the stills in action. All very informative in one hour...More

Islay, home to many whisky distilleries, and obviously a big revenue earner. But I left feeling a little let down, the modern world has diluted the illusion of a home spun feel to the production of whisky. Very few people needed, and now a very...More

Of the 9 tours we took in Islay this was probably the least memorable. One of the reasons was the No Photos and No Video policy, no other distillery didn’t allow photos. The tour it self was OK but the guide seemed a bit disinterested....More

A friend and I only had a few hours in Islay so narrowed our distillery visits down to 2 places, Lagavulin being one of them (I will admit I'm a big Parks & Rec fan so that was a pull, for me at least). And...More

My tour of Lagavulin was the best on the Island. Starting in the tasting room, antique furniture, big soft chairs, rugs, display cabinets with old whisky on show, wooden floors, words cannot explain how the room captured me. To be met by Marjory, a lady...More

A very pleasant visit. The lounge area is extremely comfortable and the outside setting is spectacular. I would recommend this as a very good experience.

They will mail it to you. But as we discovered three weeks ago we did not need to use it since we booked both the distillery tour and the warehouse tasting. If you book both, the distillery tour is free. I did not know that.

If you take a tour you will be paying more than twice the price that you can do it by yourself and your not on their timetable. That is if you don't mind driving. I'm from the US we drive on the right and it was fine for me... More
