I can't speak for everyone who works there but Izzati, the manager of the project, was amazing. When we were struggling to find the ferry, there happened to be another person descending the stairs from Embassy hotel at the same time. She asked us where we were going, informed us that she was going to the same place, and got... More

Situated at the the other spectrum of what tioman is famouse for is the Juara Beach . A calm beach that is somewhat very hard to find these days . Untouched from hospitality industry I'd say although there are some resorts . The best part of the setting of Juara Beach is probably the local house and the locals themselves... More

I think all of us need to stop shopping and holidaying for luxurious needs for a moment. Plan for a holiday thats not all about yourself, but for a better future. Staying and volunteering at JTP opens up my heart and mind. I came home with a learned knowledge about sea turtles; they are about to endangered and how we... More

Looking to volunteer? This is an awesome project on the island of Tioman in Malaysia. Only 1 in 10,000 sea turtles will likely live through maturity. And what this project is doing may be only a small part but hugely important. It raises awareness, educates people, protects the eggs through re-nesting, ensures that hatchlings are immediately released to their natural... More

The operation has been ongoing for over a decade. It will be another 20 years before they see their first return hatchling. Watch for the red flashlights on that section of beach around 7:15 pm if you want to see a release.

We actually spent a few days volunteering at the Juara Turtle Project with our 3 & 6 year olds and had such an amazing time. We learnt so much about turtles & the conservation aspect. Each day JTP offer "turtle talks" led by the volunteers for a minimal payment of 10RM per person, they are so informative and I highly... More

The visitors center attracts & educates visitors, as do the involvement programs with volunteers & students.   They continually  inform local leaders & government about protecting sea turtles for environmental & economic reasons.   The main points are: Protection of the nests & eggs, Habitat protection, Beach lighting management, & Enforcement of regulations. If you want to know more about... More

The turtles are the customers at Juara Turtle Project. Volunteers help collecting, protecting eggs and releasing the turtles at Tioman. Almost extinct but with their help a much bigger chance of survival. Don't expect to see turtles, It is a conservation, education and research center. The turtles are released right after they are hatched. This give them the biggest change... More
