I have travelled up the Amazon River before and I have experienced the meeting of the waters a few times. It is one of the must see sights on the Amazon and I find it fascinating to watch the Amazon and Tapajós rivers converge and then flow side by side, without mixing for several kilometers. You can take a boat... More

Everyone should see the meeting of the waters, but don't plan too much time around it. Make your way downtown and climb the steps to the top of the hill that will give you a good view of the differently coloured waters merging. Take a good look, and then carry on with your day.

While the width of the Amazon and the Tapajos rivers varies during the year, it just an amazing sight to see these rivers flow next to each other for miles. The color of the rivers are very noticeable.

We did a five day trip on a local slow boat from Tabatinga to Manaus and just before arrival went past the meeting. It was great, from the top deck (3rd floor) we could clearly see two rivers, absolutely different colors, following without mixing for kilometers! Not sure if you do a boat tour you'll have the same view, boats... More

Before our cruise my husband and I booked a tour with Gil Serique for our day in Santarem. The rest of the party comprised 3 couples from our ship who had booked independently. We had an extremely enjoyable day with Gil; on his boat, ashore and in small boats. We saw an amazing amount of birdlife and wildlife including many... More

See the meeting of the waters, between emerald green waters of the Tapajos river with clay of the Amazon River, its really depends on when you plan to go Santarem. I got here 3 different time, and just on 3th time, I could see it cleary.. If you have a time , take a boat to sail the river.

Santarem Meeting of the waters Early than scheduled, we began to manoeuvre into the commercial port of Santarem. The “Pacific Basin” was tied to a mooring point that appeared to be linked to the shore by a very long conveyor, cargo unknown. Coming within 30 foot of our berth, with the bow being moved round for docking on the port... More

It's interesting to watch where rivers merge with the Amazon and run next to each other for a while.

While on a cruise, we arranged a tour with Gil. It turned out that 15 other passengers from the ship comprised the balance of the group. The boat was comfortable with plenty of seats, on the jungle hike we saw sloths and some birds, the time in the smaller canoes was enjoyable, the food offered was good, the drinks excellent... More

We spent the day on Gil's Meeting of the Waters excursion when our ship was docked in Santarem and it was the highlight of our three weeks in Brazil. The actual Meeting of the Waters in Santarem was not as impressive as in Manaus due to the low water level at the end of the dry season but it was... More
