Paid $20,000 pesos to go here in a moto-taxi, round trip with wait, walk across the bridge and view the info about the bridge, as well as look underneath... I went ahead and paid extra to have him take me into Sucre...cute little town...happened to be where the driver lived, so I got the whole story....loved it....my driver knew a lot about the history and we stopped several times for different photo ops. Only takes about 10 minutes( with stops for pics) to walk across. Found the story about the engineer pretty interesting and his tie to the Brooklyn Bridge...great.

Constructed in the 19th century, this suspension bridge is a must see - especially if you have a guide that can explain the history and engineering feat - I found the Ecotours Colombia guide extremely knowledgeable and he took us right across the bridge explaining the history, construction and methodology.

Masterpiece of construction

Constructed in the 19th century, this suspension bridge is a must see - especially if you have a guide that can explain the history and engineering feat - I found the Ecotours Colombia guide extremely knowledgeable and he took us right across the bridge explaining the history, construction and methodology.

We took a day trip from Medellin to Santa Fe and visited the bridge. In the 1890s it must have been a technical masterpiece. It is very impressive still, as it spans across the whole river without pillars.

A must see if...

...you are visiting Santa Fe de Antioquia. The constructor helped to construct the Brooklyn Bridge 🌉 in times gone by.

And..don’t look 👀 too close what the river transports to the ocean 🌊 ... what a shame... reminds me of the movie 🎥 “planet plastic”.

Very enjoyable trip.
Tuc tuc motor taxi from main bus terminal....20,000 return and they will wait 30mins for you.
Can walk accross the bridge or go accross in tuc tuc.
Views are spectacular and whole atmosphere is great.
Only thing I would heed on the side of caution is if you are planning a day trip from Medellin could take a lot longer than planned....as there are alot of road works as at June 2019 and I imagine to be so for a further while....great trip highly recommended

An engineering marvel when built

We took a mototaxi out of town about 4-5 km to visit this bridge which is considered a highlight of a visit to this area. It was built in 1895 by a local engineer who subsequently participated in the design and construction of the Brooklyn Bridge.

A bikers' bridge

It is a span of beauty. The clincher is that you can only cross on foot or on a bike. Our motorcycles enjoyed the regal treatment rolling across the boards laid out like piano keys The wind gently added a sway as we put -put-putted from end to end

Take a Walk Across the Suspension Bridge Inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge

Visited with our tour group in the Fall while visiting Santa Fe de Antioquia. Highly recommend this experience if you are in the Eastern Antioquia, and it will not take you all day (perhaps an hour max of your time, but likely less). You can say that you crossed a river (Rio Cauca) in Colombia on foot!

Our tour bus parked in a clearing at the top of the hill, and we walked down to the bridge. It looks like a smaller version of the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC - this is because it's engineer, Columbian native Jose Maria Villa, studied in the US and participated on the work of the Brooklyn Bridge! The bridge allows you to walk across, and only one car may pass a time.

The walk was only about 15 minutes or so. On the other side of the Bridge, in the town Olaya, there is an area with a few vendors (mostly food). If you want to use the bathroom, bring some pesos with you, because it will cost you. Other than this, highly recommend this activity.

An engineering masterpiece you should see and try

Justa few kilometres out of the village centre is the old suspension bridge, once the longest suspension bridge in South America. You can walk over on pedestrian walkways, and you can drive your car over it too! (One car at a time, in one diretoion at a time...)

Amazing view, take a Tuk Tuk from Santa Fe de Antioquia, the driver will wait 20 min, enough to walk the bridge and take pictures. You can walk to the view from the Virgin Mary, that part needs better stairs and cleaning
