Together with the lake, one of the characteristic elements of the Garda Trentino landscape is the rock of Arco, dominating the plain of the River Sarca at the point where it widens. Three paths lead to the castle, which was the residence of the Arco Counts in the Middle Ages; they all leave the village and wind through the olive groves in the hills to reach the castle in a few minutes. Beyond the last town-wall is the Prato della Lizza, a green balcony overlooking the Garda Trentino territory at the foot of the three enormous sides of the Torre Grande, the Prigione del Sasso and Sala degli Affreschi, beautifully frescoed with scenes of games of draughts and battles. At the top, the last refuge in the event of siege, stands the Torre Renghera, whose bell, known as the "renga", called the farmfolk to prayer.

Very nice castle. The route takes about 15 min to reach it. But they are closing sales of tickets before 17.30 so you have to be earlier. Views from above are super!

We enjoyed our visit to this very interesting castle. Parked our car in an unusual but free car park in amongst many olive trees. It is a very steep climb to the castle and to be honest some areas would not be allowed if this...More

take a nice walk from Arco Centro up the mountain to these well preserved ruins. Small entry fee to help keep the nice restored.

Well worth the hike up to the castle. It's a bit of a climb in parts. Castle is very interesting and quite a bit to look around. Prices are fairly reasonable. Great views over Riva, Arco and Torbole.

Take a trip to the top of the mountain and see the sunset. It's a bit of a walk up steep paths, but take some water and go for it. Beautiful views and well worth it.

Beautiful view over Arco after a lovely walk up through the olive groves. You can deserve a gelato on your walk back down in to the town

Quite a steep trek up to the castle from the town but the surface is well paved so anyone should be able to go up (just how long will vary depending on age/fitness etc!). The few bits of the castle ruins left are nice but...More
