We visited in April when the water levels were in mid flow. It must be amazing when it is in full flood! Worth the walk down to see the rocks and water close up, but it’s quite a steep climb back up unless you’re prepared...More

At first we weren’t sure if we would go as it was a bit expensive for a day trip. However, we decided we couldn’t miss it. We got a car to the upper part of the gorge and weren’t disappointed. Although it was busy, it...More

I wouldn't know about you but the mountains back home look like dirt mounds compared to this beast. Bit shame with the construction going on but it ain't close to as bad as the comment make it seem.

So glad I did this, the highlight of my trip, worth the travel. Beautiful scenery, I loved the hiking, it was a narrow path and a very very big drop off in places but my 10 year old managed fine, but just keep in mind...More

To truly experience the wow factor of the majesty and power of the river gorge, leave the bus loads of tourists at commercial viewpoint behind and head further along the twisting road to the guesthouses and spectacular scenery at Middle Gorge. At the guesthouses we...More

Very scenic spot for photos. Must able to climb about 500 steps down and up again from the top to the bottom of the gorge. It’s worth the exercise. A must visit destination in Yunnan.

Tiger Leaping Gorge is not for the faint of heart. It is hiking with some strenuous parts, and difficult for those who struggle with downhills. Usually done in three days or two full days, I would recommend skipping the first bit and starting the hike...More

After a winding and sometimes frightening road, we arrived at the middle gorge. At the top of the hike the was a tea house with a very nice staff. However the is no menu and we restricted out our food options to very good vegetables...More

We didn't do the trekking. Our guide dropped us off at the entrance of the descending steps where we paid CNY65 for the entrance fees. Descending to the Gorge was easy but not so easy when we have to climb back up of 300+ steps....More

I presume you are talking about the ladder on the route up from the middle gorge below Tina's. There was no ladder on the trail down, so you might be able to come back up the "down" trail. There were people who came down... More

It depends on the angle you want to cover. I usually use a 6.7 mm Nikkor wide angle lens that covers 135 degrees, which is great because it does not distort the image.

Be prepared to walk down and up the steep 1000 plus steps to the gorge viewing platform carrying your one year child. Otherwise you got to pay the 2 rickshaw bearers to carry both of you up and down.
