Do make the effort to hike all the way down to the platform to capture the rushing waters in this gorge. The hike down and way back up is worth it in winter, as i was already sweating making the climb up! It is blissfully serene to listen to the rushing waters. As with all chinese myths, legend goes that... More

This is a lovely hiking trail across and through the mountains. There are several locations throughout the trail where you can check into a small hostel or hotel and there is no need to camp. The trail is well labelled and easy to follow and there are some breathtaking views while you hike. It is definitely one of those trips... More

Before we enter Shangri-La county, your vehicle must be inspected so that it can manouvre well down the winding road along the mountainous area. Very cold windy season during winter. 600 steps down to the gorge and 600 steps up back to the parking lot. Really awesome view going down the steps going through the well laid plank and passing... Beautiful place to hike, would recommend setting aside 3 days to hike this part of the Gorge. Photos attached are from the ray of sunshine area, best entered from the walnut garden side. Entrance is 15 yuan, if people ask you to pay more, refuse is that's all you need to pay, the rest is arbitrary. Can get a better,... More

First part of the hike is quite tough and marred a bit by some construction across the river, however after this the views are some of the finest I have ever seen and despite it being winter it was actually too hot in the sun to wear a jumper. If you get the chance, stay at the Naxi family guesthouse... More

We started hiking in the morning. The 28 bends etc almost killed me!! But then other younger hikers have no problems...so get there while you can! OR get a donkey ride up. The climb though hard but very rewarding!! The view is spectacular and if you take it slowly up the mountains, you get rewarded for the most beautiful set... More

TLG is a nice hike if you have a spare few days! It's really easy to follow with nice views along the way. The first day is pretty tough for the average Joe (my husband is super fit and ran off ahead while I struggled behind), and the first two hours are pretty unimpressive due to construction. However, after that... More

If you have time, please visit this place. Not too far from Lijiang and a must-go place. If you love something natural and beautiful creatures, this is one of the best place for you to go. Staying in Middle TLG is also a great choice. It feels like you're living far awar from the modern life. Its all about nature,... More

Everything well organised. Large car parks and easy walk down to the gorge. The views and scenery are marvellous. Of course you have to walk back up to the top, or you can be carried up if you wish. Personally, I did not find the ascent difficult. There was so much to see and great photo opportunities along the way.... More

The high trail of the Tiger Leap Gorge in Yunnan is easily one of China’s best hikes, and a must do for anyone visiting Yunnan. I did the hike in a day. By getting an overnight bus from Kunming and starting early (about 6:45am) I was able to comfortably complete the trail by about 14:15 and catch a 15:30 onward... More
