this was one of our favorite places to camp and drive on our 10 camping trip minus the throngs of bugs we loved seeing the Canadian Shield along the highway. Fuel up before you come here its a long drive between services. We explored all the campgrounds up the highway 102 north all the way to McClellan lake where we found no camping and learned later if we would have kept going we would have found one up the road which was deregulated. It was quite a far drive actually and people drive really fast and kick up rocks on your windshield three times in less than 20 minutes that left large stone bruises...slow down people!!.
Our favorites were Wadin Bay site 4 and Little deer. We would have stayed at the Chruchill campsite number 1 but every time we tried to while we were in the area people would park in the spot we wanted and use it as day use parking instead of parking anywhere else in the parking lot grrr the view of the river from the bridge there was nice. We also wanted to stay at Devil lake but upon seeing a party of 5 young men fishing in the small 3 campsite campground and one tent site by the lake number 4 we opted for the quietness of Little deer site number 2 with a little creek running through it and pit toilets with fish shack and picnic sheltor, a good little kayaking and fishing lake where it was quiet even though it meant a longer drive back.
here is what you have to know about camping in these little campsites there is absolutely no cell service barely any where but Missinipi so you need to call ahead and reserve spots as there is no self registration which sucks because if you dont realize that it is alot of extra miles to go back to where there is a park office or wait till they open on line or on the phone where you often dont get anyone answering anyways and book otherwise you are stuck someone may have already reserved what seems to be an empty campsite. We know that now
The coop store at La Ronge is the best with large blocks of ice and we spent over 200 in bug and rain proof gear to cope with the continual bad storms that came up and horrific amount of skeeters that bite viciously and relentlessly
we will definitely return here ...alcohol stores dont open till 11 am and we missed the trading post will catch those on the next trip
on the way out of the park East we took 165 the short cut to the Hanson highway 106 to Flin Flon/Creighton and i dont recommend ever doing that again when its been raining we had to drive 40 km in 4 wheel drive all the stretch and was very very scary

We “got away from it all” in beautiful northern Saskatchewan. There is so much to discover in Lac La Ronge Provincial Park. The town of La Ronge has all the amenities but is surrounded natural beauty with lakes, rivers, sand cliffs, forest campgrounds and hiking trails.

It’s a hidden gem in SK. It’s more like banff. Otter rapid is great. The highway is gravel and not good for small vehicles. Gov should pay more attention to roads and communications.

We arrived at the park around 2:30 in the afternoon. We were not aware that we needed a park pass until we got here , even though we had asked in advance… but no one seemed to know. The girl at the gate was no help. . We called the reservation line and was told to scan a Q code located in the park, no Q code could be found. Asked the girl at the gate where they were and she didn’t know. We went to the site that was reserved and found it to be very uneven, dirty and muddy. I understand that it had rained a couple of days prior but a load or two of gravel would have worked wonders. The fire pit was dirty, rusty and the pedestal was coming out of the ground.. The picnic table was dirty and the paint was peeling off of it. It took us over 4 hours to get our unit levelled and that was only after 2 trips to find wood to put under the wheels. This park is very run down. Everything has to be done “ on line”. This may be okay in some cases but I don’t know how they do the cleaning, maintenance and customer service on line. You need to have a real person present to make sure things are done and customers are looked after. This has put a real damper on our experience here. They charge $33.00 a night which under normal circumstances would be reasonable but I feel for what we received and experienced in less than one day it is too much! I am not sure I would come back to this park even though the scenery is very nice

Wadin Bay campground was a nice place to stay. Too bad a forest fire destroyed most of it in 2015.The lake was wonderful, went island hopping with the canoe, fished, swam. Highly recommend highering a guide to see Stanley Mission, rock paintings and the falls.

This is beautiful place to camp or go for a nice fall hike. It is quiet and not busy - at least during the shoulder season.

Went for a walk but didn't see the sign where hiking wasn't allowed which was pointed out to us by others who were skiing. We were half way to the end so we kept going. When we got back we saw the sign for no hiking. Although we did enjoy ourselves up to the point where we were told we were doing something that was not allowed. Park does look nice covered in snow. Will come again at a later date perhaps with skis.

What temperatures can be expected from June 9 -14?
We are visiting a cottage on Lac La Ronge

Planning to go canoeing/camping on the lakes in July for 3 or 4 days. Hoping that it’s not too busy and that you’re free to camp where you please (obviously treating the place with respect). Any tips from the community? I see that Montreal River Outpost rent canoes out - is this the only outfit on Lac La Ronge?
