This lake is gateway to Torres Del Paine National Park when approaching from Puerto Natales. It is an awesome lake not to be missed when visiting the park. Spotted several guanacos around this lake.

This makes for a good and easy leg stretcher walk. If the sun is right, you can get good pictures of snow-covered mountains reflected in the lake.

We drove by on our way departing from the park and stopped for photos. The mountain was the backdrop. The reflection of the mountain creates a scenic photo shoot. There is a shelter along the lake, a great location to have a picnic.

We enjoyed a trail to Lago Sarmiento on a recent trip with Explora Patagonia. Upon completion of the hike (which lasted around 2 hours), we were met by park rangers who explained they were closing the trail indefinitely. I would check on this before adding it to your itinerary. It's a very enjoyable hike with great views otherwise.

Lago Sarmiento is one of the lakes in the Torres Del Paine National Park and, approaching from Puerto Natales, it could be called the gateway to the National Park. On Route Y-150 there is a Mirador from which there are spectacular views of the lake and its extensive white shores formed by deposits of calcium carbonate. Well worth a stop and some photographs, especially in changing weather conditions

Hotel had organized a day trip from one ranger station to another around the lake. It was an easy hike. We saw a lot of animals and a few falcons as well. The hike is easy though, so if you are looking for something challenging, please skip.

The view of this lake from Tierra Patagonia cannot be rivaled. The weather changes are interesting to watch and sunny days offer amazing views.

This lake presents a wonderful opportunity for a not-too-difficult hike, and for observing geological rock formations and calcium deposits. The banks/shorelines are white from the calcium deposits. Lake Sarmiento is located at the South Entrance to the park, the least used entrance. It has a lovely vantage point on a clear day.

We had a phenomenal day of hiking around the like.

It was sunny but really windy! The wind made the hike a little more challenging (it's pretty flat) but made the lake absolutely gorgeous. For those doing day hikes around the park, this is a great area to hike in. Lots of fantastic views, Guanaco....classic Patagonia!
