Nicopolis is an ancient city that was built on 31 B.C by Octavios after the batle of Aktio. If you translate it from Greek to English Nicopolis, means the city of victory. It is placed just outside the town of Preveza. It is great for someone that is interested in ancient history to visit that place. Also the museum that they recently built near the ancient city of Nicopolis is one of the most moderate and intresting musuems in Greece.

After scrambling around the ruins on our own, we went back to the museum to read something about the place. There was only one other family there when we entered, so one of the workers followed us through the entire building. Not sure if we...More

Vast and large areas of ruins that are badly directed and advertised. Your best option is to drive around and find each locations yourself as I tried.

We are dealing here with two related sites. The actual location of the old city of Nicopolis, and the associated museum about 1km away in the outskirts of Preveza. We got it wrong! If you want to understand what you are looking at you MUST...More
