Absolute waste of time. Do not go. All in Malay through a muffled incredibly LOUD speaker, speaking at 1,000 decibels. Even my Malay friend could not understand. On top of that the guide shone his torch light directly into all of the animals eyes including Owls and the several pens of deer!!!

Night is when these animals sleep so they feed them late to keep them about for this crap tour. From what we could see the ‘pens/cages’ were far too small including one tiny dirt area for 5 elephants. A lot of animals were on their own. Absolutely disgraceful, I wouldn’t even go here in the daytime! 👎

Reached at approximately 8pm and got on the tram by 8:15pm. We were lucky to have Vincent as our guide as he is very knowledgeable and has a strong bond with the animals, with some responding warmly to the sound of his voice. He is also passionate about giving guests the best possible night safari experience and really made our visit most special.

During our visit we didn’t get to explore everything in the zoo due to bad weather. Kids are excited to see the animals .. some part of the zoo are still under maintenance during our visit. Overall was Okay.

we went there for night safari . have to say that it was an enjoyable experience .

pro
- the animals are quite abundant and looked well kept and healthy
- souvenir shop sells many items and the prices are not so exorbitant and acceptable
( if u know what to get )
- the trains for the night safari are mostly new albeit 1-2 trains that looked old

cons
- have to wait about 20-25 mins for the trains to take new passengers . despite having alvailable trains , not sure if they dont have enough drivers or it was rest hours .
- parking B which is located away from the zoo is quite dark and maybe dangerous especially if u go for the nght safari and comes back late
- the conecting tunnel between parking B & C to the park which was meant for pedestrian is not well kept and looked dirty, no wonder no one use it .

i hope we can visit again some day soon maybe in the evening to enjoy the walk around the zoo. the place looked definitely bigger than Zoo Ngara so prepare to spent 2-3 hours if u are to conquer the place by foot .

Its sad to see one of the main attractions during school holidays The Zoo Taiping is so worn out.No upgrade has been done especially the entrance. Its like going to the zoo in the 80’s.Its very dull looking,no fun activity is being conducted during peak school holidays.Zoo should be an educational, fun and excitement place for the family to visit.I do think that the Zoo mgmnt has to take account on refurbish the very well know zoo in Msia. All animals are very well kept and maintained. Its just the entrance needs an uplift. The feeling before entering the zoo was just so dull and boring.Hope this review will help send out the mssg to MPT and Taiping Zoo mgmnt.Overall was just okay…

It was a impromptu decision to visit Taiping night safari after dinner as there’s not much to do at night here , we arrived around 9:30pm . Bought the tickets and we need to line up about 10-15 minutes for the buggy , buggy ride was roughly 40 minutes ride from start to finish with the driver explaining in Malay language and using his torch lights to show us the animals at night . Hardly can see any animals , very visible was the flamingo 🦩 , crocodiles 🐊, giraffe 🦒, zebra 🦓, elephant 🐘 which was at the end of the ride .

Some of the avaries seem a little too small for the occupants but in general this is a very good zoo and well worth a visit. To really experience all of it you will benefit from both day and night visits due to the behaviour of some of the animals. Bestto take plenty of insect repellent but the genera ambiance of jungle noise is suprisingly good considering how close to the town this is. It is worth walking around as well as taking the free buggy service, you see a lot more of the animals on foot but in the heat of the day the buggy can also be a blessing!

We've visited several times now and really enjoyed it. If you visit on a weekday during the school term it can feel like it is your own private zoo!

📍Taiping Zoo
Since I was in primary school, I remember going to Taiping for the zoo.
2 decades later, here I am, back visiting the same zoo with my little niece and Michelle and family.
It's really lovely to know that the zoo has been maintained throughout all the years.
Many animals to see, and they're looking quite healthy.
Keep it up, Taiping Zoo 😀

This is a must visit place in Taiping. Because this could be one of the best zoos in Malaysia. It is small in terms of area but packed in terms of what you can see. Tiger, lion, giraffe, zebra, orangutan, elephant, gorilla, hippopotamus, rhino, crocodile, deer, and many more. My wife, my younger daughter and I went and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the visit. We spent around an hour on this activity.

The first question is - whether day or night safari? This was a question which challenged me while I was planning the trip. But, now I can say with confidence that the day trip will be better because of the sheer variety of animals to see. Somehow I feel you might not be able to see all of them, or see them properly if you go for the night safari. Also, my experience with night safari with the Singapore zoo was average. I feel night safaris are just a sensation. Actually you get to see more during the day. There are many reviews which said that during the day the animals are hiding because of the heat. This is mostly not the case, and even if they are hiding you can see them quite clearly because they hardly have any space to hide. Most of the enclosures are not so big. As I said the zoo over all is not so big in area. Though the animals looked well looked after. You don't get a feeling that they are unhappy there.

Parking was a horrible experience. We went on a Saturday and there were 2 kms long queue to get into the parking, that is if you get space at all. So, I had to drop my wife and daughter at the receiving area and then go park almost 1.5 kms in some non-designated parking space and walk back to join them. Once again after the visit, we 3 had to walk all that way to find our car. The parking gets full and then you have to keep waiting as and when a parked car moves out! I think that's a ridiculous situation keeping in mind that this is the prime attraction in Taiping.

Whether to take the tram ride or not? My opinion is yes, you should! For 2 simple reasons. Firstly, unlike many reviews which say there is a long queue for the tram ride, my experience was that the queue moves very fast because the tram system inside the zoo is quite well managed and there are many of them which keep coming one after another. Secondly, the tram ride gives you a quick 20 minutes round up of all you need to see of the zoo. Post that you can decide to walk back to some of your favorite animals! Also, it can be quite hot in Malaysia and hence taking the tram ride can be a relief. Many reviews talk about the sound the tram makes and the fact that you cannot hear any of the announcements. Firstly, not all the trams make sound. There are the old ones which run on gasoline which make noise. Yet, there are the new battery operated ones which are quiet. Why don't they get rid of the old ones - well I don't know, but they should definitely do get rid of them. About the announcement, actually who needs to hear what they are saying anyways! You pretty much are there to see the animals. If you want to know about them then there is a signage outside each animal enclosure about the animal housed there.

Expect the zoo to be crowded because it is small in area. But, since everything is out in the open, you should be pretty ok in terms of concerns of C19 infection. Overall, the SOPs followed are also quite up to the mark. All the trams are sprayed and disinfected after every ride.

We didn't check out any of the eateries, nor did we visit any of the toilets. Though we saw them at vantage points.

It is located right next to the famous botanical garden of Taiping which is a huge lush green and beautiful park. The park and the zoo together are the highlights of Taiping. There is nothing much else. But, these two make it worthwhile to visit Taiping as a tourist. Then there is this last thing which is also a big draw. The food here is just out of the world. There are many eateries giving out delicious food at very reasonable price. You will get better and cheaper food here than in KL! The other big highlight at least for us is the cycling you can do all through the day and evening next to the botanical garden at the area called "Raintree Walk". Oh man it is really wonderful that experience. Please read my review on the botanical garden for all the details. We really enjoyed the cycling on rent there.

Love the ambience, the animals were alive, u hear lion roaring, monkeys sound, elephant happily eating and their cubs playing. Beautiful scenery surrounding. Night safari is great as you get to see noctural animals active at night. Overall, it is amazing!
