I originally aimed for 5, maybe 6 distilleries during our 8 days but ended up visiting 10 - it was a dream come true and I am trying to leave some hints/tips here for each
We started with Le Mauny - you can come here and sample their rhums and walk around the gift shop but unless you speak French you won't be able to appreciate the tour - probably you can still take it but you are going to miss out on the key part - though the little car-train they had set up looked extremely fun - now that I think I should have still done that :)
You will find here some products from the more popular and known back in the US Trois Rivieres distillery as well, as the 2 companies work together (not collaborate but simply have an agreement to lease equipment etc., I was told by the latter one that no same equipment is used nor the sugar cane as not to "contaminate" each other's product and keep it separate/distinct) - I found it unusual but later noticed that Depaz is also listed as Dillon on my bank statement (Dillon being a completely different distillery closer to FDF versus Depaz in St Pierre) and charges at Trois Rivieres showing up as Le Mauny - a bit confusing but different products, different rhum :)
Although short visit I left happy being able to try many of their rhums (free of charge), the lady there tried her best to speak in English and for that I was very grateful! I also enjoyed the little mozaic art on the grounds - very cool!
TIP: if you are in the area and love rhum go visit Trois Rivieres, Clement and A1710 - easy driving as anywhere on Martinique with its superb qualify roads

Dear visitor,
Thank you very much for feeding back so precisely ! Your Rhum Road looks like very amazing ! Thank you for including Maison La Mauny in your schedule ;)
Please note we are really aware of the welcoming of our International visitors. We will work on some material to allow you to get the benefits of the guided tour.
Definitely, you should have done that despite the language. You would have enjoyed observing the numerous industrial pieces such as the distillation columns. Here, you can find this of Maison La Mauny but also the one of Trois Rivières. This element is key being distinct between each other and unique in order to express the "terroir" of each rum ;)
Maison La Mauny and Trois Rivières belong to the same company. It is very common to find the production of different rums in one distillery.
The whole team is looking forward to meeting you again soon to provide you further explanations :).
Kind regards.

Lovely setting, impressive rhum selection (their spiced variety was particularly tasty), and enthusiastic staff made for a pleasant few hours. The tour was dour and uninteresting as the mill was not operational...in fact looked forlorn and neglected; and it was expensive. Skip the tour and enjoy their tasting room instead.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your comments.
We are pleased you enjoyed the rhum selection and the welcome of the staff.
Regarding the tour, we wish it did not match with your expectations. However, in none distillery of the island, you won't be able to find an operational mill at this period of the year since the harvest season is basically from end of January/beginning of February to June. Our site is an authentic production site meaning you will have also maintenance periods. It may be interesting to be aware of all the process needed to produce the impressive rhum selection as said :)
Moreover, the fare of 8€ includes a 45 minutes guided tour by train which allows you to ask all your questions and get all information you want to during the tour.
Feel free to visit us again for more tasting ;)

A lovely ride on the Petit Train around the rum producing area of this distillery. Our guide was excellent, switching effortlessly from French to English which made the tour very interesting and informative. The rum tasting at the end was also excellent. Needless to say, we bought a bottle.

My wife and I stopped into this distillery because it was 5 minutes from our AirBnB and we had some time to kill while the rest of our family was napping. We were pleasantly surprised.
We did not take a tour, but instead just did a tasting in the tasting room. The staff was so friendly and spoke wonderful English. Now, I don't expect people to speak English to me while I'm traveling. Generally between my limited French and some hand signals I get by. But it was really nice to get a good description of how the rhum is made, and the different tastes, ect.
We ended up buying a few bottles of rhum and some perfume.
The grounds were lovely, there is plenty of parking, and there is a restaurant that serves lunch on site. It's definitely worth a stop!

We did not do a guided tour or visited the distillerie as we had seen the distilling process explained in several other distilleries. But the shop is great, the variety of products is very nice, as there not only several rums of 'La Mauny' but also of Trois Rivières, rum liquors, sirup and a vinegar made of sugar cane juice. We could taste everything we wanted.

As noted by other traveller's, the acoustic on the "train" tour are often times inaudible. The tour is interesting but a tad bit long and again the ability to hear the guide can be frustrating. Our guide was personable and actually joked with my friends when they asked if he spoke English and he looked at them quizzically - so when I asked him in French - he replied - no the tour is in French and then followed it up with "gotcha".
So we did enjoy his humor and while his English was not fluent - we had no issues understanding the guides explanations - only with hearing over the machinery. In truth, we could have passed on the tour and just attended the tasting bar!
there is a SNACK bar/restaurant on the property a short walk/drive from the main building. We did not have snacks or lunch since it was late afternoon.
The grounds near the main building are lovely. AMPLE parking.

We went to La Many for a cooking class (which was great, but not directly affiliated with the distillery - class not reviewed here).
The train tour was basic - 3-4 stops, only at the last could we get off the train and see the equipment and some interesting signage. The guide knew his rum production - in French - but although he tried, his English was too limited to convey a decent understanding of the process. And the process was most of what he described - not much in the way of supplemental historical details and other info that makes for a good tour.
Not worth going out of your way unless you want to purchase large quantities titles of their tum - the smallest bottles for sale are half liters, and only in the basic white rum.

The place is certainly interesting, but we got most of the explanations from a film viewed at the beginning... and not from the guide who was extraordinary unfriendly and inaudible without a microphone considering the noise produced by the plant.
You may wish to look at another distillerie to visit to make the best out of your journey.

Cordialement
Andrea
