Great trail. I would do it anytime. The hut at Potberg is so lovely, makes you forget about how tough the 1st part of trail is. The 1st few metres are not for the fainthearted but once you overcome that, the view is rewarding. The...More

This is a great hike. I'm fit, and found it asking me a lot of quesitons ! Probably the heat, in Feb, didn't help - generally no shade on offer while hiking. Best time is obviously when the whales are there, from Julyish.

We recently completed the whale hiking trail. It was a truely amazing experience. The hike is not too difficult, but it can become very hot as shade is limited. The natural beauty of the coast is amazing. The facilities at the huts were really good...More

It was not for the lack of trying, but the whales (8) were there the day before, but on our day it was cold and windy. This is the place to stop and spend a few days and hopefully you get to see the whales

What we did was take n cooler box as the 7th box and froze nearly all our food before the hike. It kept the meat cold for aboit two days. Days 3 and 4 we rather did a tuna dish and biltong pasta dish.
